Anil Kapoor v/s Arjun Kapoor - Clash of Mubarakan 'chacha-bhatija' As Total Dhamaal Takes On Namastey England In A Clash Of Sequels

They were oh-so-adorable together in Mubarakan. However, one year down the line they could well be finding themselves on the opposite sides of the fence. We are talking about real life 'chacha-bhatija' pair of Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor who would be clashing with each other at the Box Office on 7th December 2018.

 

The films in question are Total Dhamaal and Namastey England.

It was Namastey England that was announced first actually. After quite a lot of suspense that had built around the sequel to Namastey London and who would be eventually featuring in it ( Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha were spoken about at one point in time), it boiled down to the Ishaqzaade 'jodi' of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra . For filmmaker Vipul Shah it was a big relief to get going with the sequel to the much loved Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer more than a decade after it had unfolded on the big screen.

 

Soon enough, the date was finalized as well and 7th December just looked like the right choice since it meant a two week window before the Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L. Rai film hit the screens on 21st December. All seemed just perfect for Namastey England to arrive in theaters and the lead pair too had plans well in place to begin shooting for the film once they were through with Dibakar Banerjee's Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar which features the duo as well.

However, the film won't be feeling alone in theaters now, what with Total Dhamaal announcing its plans for the same date as well. The Indra Kumar directed affair was earlier thinking of Diwali release, considering the fact that the festive season has been quite successful for Ajay Devgn . Especially after the actor delivering a 200 crore Blockbuster with Rohit Shetty on Diwali this year, a comic entertainer was being looked at just the right film for Diwali 2018 as well. No wonder there were speculations galore that Aamir Khan , Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif's Thugs of Hindostan would have competition from Total Dhamaal!

The good thing though is that instead of this battle intensifying for an entire year and leading to quite a few speculations, rumors and bad blood, the makers of Total Dhamaal have announced their release date. The film is now set to arrive on 7th December and this means the clash would now be with Namastey England.

As a package, Total Dhamaal is indeed huge as it is spearheaded by Ajay Devgn with Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit stepping in as vintage 'jodi'. As for the usual suspects, there are Riteish Deshmukh , Arshad Warsi , Javed Jaffrey and Ashish Chaudhary returning, hence making the film bigger than before.

Not just that as the date would also signify a clash of sequels. Total Dhamaal is third in the franchise and filmmaker Indra Kumar has proven in the past that when it comes to comedies [Dhamaal, Double Dhamaal , Masti , Grand Masti] he is a brand in himself. On the other hand Vipul Shah’s Namastey London was a success too and over a period of time has managed a cult following for itself, hence paving the way for Namastey England.

Now the date is getting much and much hotter as both Total Dhamaal and Namastey England come with solid credentials. Moreover, with Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor battling it out with each other, the clash of these two films would turn out to be a 'family outing' as well. Pun intended!
