Kaalakaandi VS Mukkabaaz VS 1921: Who Will Emerge The Winner In The First Bollywood Clash Of 2018?

January might turn out to be one of the most important months for Bollywood this year. Even though the first week of the month did not have any releases, many major films will be releasing in the remaining 3 weeks and needless to say, there will be clashes every Friday. While everyone now has their focus on 25th January because it will see the clash of two of the most important films of the year, Padmavat and Padman , there are other films too whose clash can prove crucial for Bollywood.

This Friday, in fact, three films will be clashing at the box-office- Mukkabaaz, Kaalakaandi and 1921. Anurag Kashyap 's Mukkabaaz has already been shown in a number of film festivals and garnered rave reviews. On the other hand, Kaalakaandi can boast of being an intellectual comedy, thanks to Akshat Verma's reputation after Delhi Belly. 1921 is a successful sequel to 1920 and even though the film has not been promoted extensively, it will get takers from those who would want to see horror films.

So who do you think will emerge as the Box-Office winner? Here's who we feel might be the winner:

Mukkabaaz

The film has struck the chords of many at the Film Festivals where it was shown. It has also been highly appreciated. The promotion of the film looks good. The audiences were impressed to see how Vineet Singh transformed for the lead role.

The film has relatively lesser known faces in the lead. Vineet Singh was seen in Gangs of Wasseypur while Zoya is a newcomer. The only popular faces are that of Jimmy Shergill (who looks fierce in this one) and Ravi Kishan . But despite that, Anurag Kashyap's films do find takers. The strong UP connect in the film and the critical appreciation for the film will definitely work on its favour.

Kaalakaandi

Kaalakaandi is a Marathi slang for those who are continuous trouble-makers. Fans have been going gaga over Saif's look in the film. The film will definitely have a lot of drugs, some (or maybe more) sex and a lot of dope! 

The film will appeal only to some section of the audience. But given that the audience is loving content oriented film and it also has a known face, the film might work wonders on the Box-Office.

1921

This will be the next film of the successful 1920 series and will be directed by Vikram Bhatt. The horror film has the elementary horror situations and jumpscares. But to be honest, the trailer was not impactful. In fact, the cast also looks a little out of place. The only factor that can work in their favour is the fact that 1920 was very well made. Also, Vikram Bhatt is a trusted name when it comes to Horror films in India.
