    Kalank has been one of the most awaited films of the year. Thanks to the ensemble cast and the hype around the film created quite a buzz. The film promised us magnificent sets, the return of Sanjay-Madhuri after 22 years, Alia- Varun's chemistry once again and the fresh pair of Aditya-Sonakshi and an epic saga.

    The sky-high expectations propelled the film towards a whopping 21.6 crores INR on Day 1 at the box-office. With that, Kalank also set new records.

    1. The highest opener of 2019

    Kalank has been the highest opener of 2019 so far, surpassing the collection of the previous Dharma film, Kesari. The film collected 21.6 crores at the B.O on Day 1. The fact that it released on a holiday boosted the numbers. With an extended holiday release, the film might benefit even more.

    2. The highest opener amongst all Alia-Varun films

    Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan make a sizzling on-screen pair, who the audience loves to watch. The two debuted together with Student Of The Year and went on to work in films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. But Kalank has been the highest grossing film on Day 1 that has Varun-Alia in the lead.

    3. The highest opener for the entire cast

    Not just Varun-Alia together, Kalank has proved to be the highest opener for all the members of the cast. The second biggest opener for Varun was Diwale which raked 19 crores on Day 1, the amount that even Sonakshi’s Dabangg 2 made on the opening day. For Madhuri Dixit, it proved to be the second film that grossed for than 15 crores on Day 1 this year!

    4. The highest advance booking

    Kalank has also managed to collect the highest advance booking amount this year. The film is the first of 2019 to register an advance booking in double digits with 10 crores for 5 days. The other highest advance booking for other films had been Kesari with 7.64 crores (4 Days), Gully Boy with 7.20 crores (4 Days) and Total Dhamaal with 6.37 crore (3 Days).
