5 Originals Of Bollywood Remakes That Were Actually Flops When They Released
Originals Of Bollywood Remakes That Were Flops
Bollywood is obsessing over remakes of old Bollywood classics and trying exceptionally hard to bring back the nostalgia of those films but with a twist. But while some are trying and succeeding in bringing back the old charm in a fresh way, did you know the box office fate of their classic originals?
Well, for instance, take these few iconic Bollywood films that were re made in Bollywood but originally they were box office duds when they released.
Umrao Jaan - The 1981 film starring Rekha was a big box office flop not matter how much we love the songs and the performances. Sadly similar was the fate for the 2006 remake of the film that starred Aishwarya Rai.
Paheli - Remember Shah Rukh Khan playing a ghost in the film who falls in love with a newly wed Rani Mukherjee? Well, the film was loved by the critics, but sadly the box office did not approve. The film was a remake of the 1973 film Duvidha which had met a similar fate.
Agneepath - The 1990 Amitabh Bachchan starrer Agneepath was a big box office flop despite being an iconic film today. Karan Johar’s love for the film culminated into the 2012 remake that starred Hrithik Roshan and was a roaring success.
O Teri - The statical comedy that came and went unnoticed was a remake of Jaan Bhi Do Yaaron that starred Om Puri and was a great political satire but was a box office dud.
Karzzzz - The original starring Rishi Kapoor from 1980 was crushed at the box office by Qurbani when it released. Though later the film was much appreciated for its music and performances. Sadly we cannot say the same for the remake starring Himesh Reshammiya from 2008. The film was hard core annoyance in the name of a remake.
