Salman Khan’s Race 3 To Compete With These BIG 15 Action Thrillers Of Aamir, Shah Rukh, Akshay, Ajay
Race 3 is set to release this Friday and is further special since it is also an Eid release. Though there are more than 60 Bollywood films in the 100/200/300 Crore Club, all eyes would be on how Race 3 performs. Reason being that it belongs to the action-thriller genre and there are only 15 films that have managed to make the cut.
The biggest of them all is Tiger Zinda Hai which was last year's Christmas release. It was also a Salman Khan starrer and entered the 300 Crore Club. As a matter of fact, there are three Salman Khan starrers in the Top-5, including Kick (which is in the 200 Crore Club) and Ek Tha Tiger (which missed out on that feat by just 1 crore).
Ajay Devgn has as many as three films in this genre where Singham, Singham Returns as well as Shivaay have made it past the 100 crore mark.
Aamir Khan has two films in this league, including 200 Crore Club entrant Dhoom:3 and Ghajini which was actually the founding member of the 100 Crore Club.
As for Shah Rukh Khan, he has Ra. One and Don 2 in the 100 Crore Club. Ditto for Akshay Kumar who has scored a couple of big ones with Rowdy Rathore as well as Holiday doing well in this genre and entering the 100 Crore Club.
While the BIG 5 [Khans, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn] have a stronghold a good contribution made in this genre across the 100/200/300 Crore Club, the sixth big entrant - Hrithik Roshan - has scored a biggie too. His Bang Bang managed to go well past the 150 crore mark and emerged as a big money spinner.
However, the surprise package was the emergence of Tiger Shroff in the big league. His Baaghi 2 released this year, created a wildfire and went straight into the Top-6 of this league by finding itself placed just after Bang Bang.
Here is a list of BIG 15 action thrillers along with their lifetime total:
Tiger Zinda Hai - 339.25 crore
Dhoom: 3 - 284 crore
Kick - 232 crore
Ek Tha Tiger - 199 crore
Bang Bang - 181 crore
Baaghi 2 - 166 crore
Singham Returns - 140 crore
Rowdy Rathore - 133 crore
Ra. One - 114 crore
Ghajini - 114 crore
Holiday - 113 crore
Don 2 - 107 crore
Shivaay - 100 crore
Singham - 100 crore
Race 2 - 100 crore
What would be interesting though is to see how much further ahead does Race 3 move when it comes to competing within the franchise. Race 2 with Saif Ali Khan had just about managed to brush past the 100 crore mark and it is expected that Salman Khan would find it a breeze to at least double this score in minimal possible time.
