Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan Day 1 Box-Office: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Same-Sex Love Story Opens At 9.55 Crores INR

Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan had made us excite the moment it had been announced. This would be a film that would have same-sex relationship shown in the mainstream cinema without the stereotypes attached like Dostana. What’s more, this had Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead. Needless to say, the expectation from the film has been sky high. The opening day number of the film is here and well, it is living upto the expectations.

The Ayushmann Khurrana- Jitendra Kumar film opened at 9.55 crores INR on Friday. The film did live upto all the expectations that trade analysts had from it, In fact, it did exceedingly well in Punjab, apart from doing well in Mumbai. The film also benefitted from the fact that there had been partial holidays due to Maha Shivratri on Friday:

The film was the third best opener for Ayushmann Khurrana after Bala and Dream Girl, both of which had been non-holiday releases. Needless to say, the film would have fared way better had it gotten a solo release. The clash of Vicky Kaushal starrer Bhoot: The Haunted Ship did affect the film’s total collection.
