Cheat India’s Dil Me Ho Tum Is Another Generic Love Ballad With A Hint Of Nostalgia

Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film Cheat India has been creating the right buzz since the maker of the film released the trailer. The film is based on the racket of malfunction in Indian competitive exams and is being directed by Soumik Sen and has Emraan Hashmi playing the titular role.

The makers have released the first song of the movie today named Dil Me Ho Tum and here are takeaways from this love ballad.

Yet Another Recreation

Adding to the ever-growing list of remakes, this song is also a remake of a famous song. The song composed by Bappi Lahiri which was used in the film Satyameva Jayate that came out in 1987. The same song was also used in a popular Bengali film ‘Amar Sangi’ and enjoys a cult status among Bengali audience.

Generic Love Ballad

The song is yet another love ballad which shows Emraan Hashmi going all mushy and falling in love with the debutante actress Shreya Dhanwanthary. While Armaan Malik and Rochak Kohli’s composition is soothing and actually one of the better remakes, the song sounds extremely generic and will not be remembered by many after a few weeks perhaps.

Serial Kisser Is Back

Ever since Emraan Hashmi has undergone a sea change, both in terms of performances and choice of films, we have missed the serial kisser. One of the biggest takeaways from the song is a one-second-long lip lock, but that was enough to remind us of his murder days.

While the song and the scenes in the song are extremely generic, the cinematographer has done a pretty good job of capturing Mumbai. the landmarks in the city coupled with the hot hang out spots make for interesting imagery.
