Devi Trailer: Kajol’s Short Film Is About What Happens When Nine Women In A Room Come Face To Face With Themselves

We had been excited about Devi the moment it had been announced. This short film boasts of a stellar cast and would mark the debut of Kajol and Shruti Hassan into the world of short films. The trailer of the film is out today and well, it just promises something outstanding.

The trailer shows nine women, of different generations, cultures and economic background stuck inside a room. While the TV keeps the conversations at bay, it becomes inevitable after the TV stops working. It is then, after a brief fight, that the women come face to face with themselves. From the trailer, it looks like a film about sisterhood and shared experiences.

The short film will hit the internet on 2nd March. Earlier in an interview, the actress had said, “I couldn’t have chosen a better subject than Devi for my first short film. It’s a powerful statement, written very well by Priyanka. It’s a poignant film, one that needs to be shared with the world, especially today. My character, Jyoti, is vastly different from me in many ways, but uncannily we share a lot too. In today’s times when gender discrimination, abuse, and violence is being spoken about vociferously, films like Devi are far more relevant and I am glad to have got the opportunity to participate.”
