    Richa Chadda is one of the most acclaimed actresses working in the industry today. She has played a wide range of roles in her career and her films have been warmly received all over the world. She starred in the 2013 box office hit Fukrey that was one of the freshest comedies of the year.

    Her role as the tough-talking criminal Bholi Punjaban was well-received by everyone and she will be reprising the role once again in the follow-up to the 2013 hit, Fukrey Returns. The film is scheduled to release on 8th December and everyone is eagerly waiting for the sequel. Richa spoke exclusively with Desimartini about her upcoming release, her inspirations, and many other things.

    She talked about her journey that is full of up & down moments and she is proud of her accomplishments and that there is a long way to go as an actor as she is not here for a shorter run. On being asked about whether she thought she will be leading the charge of the content-driven cinema, she said she never thought she would but gave herself credit for choosing the right content and doing something new every time.

    The actress said none of them expected the first film to do so well though they believed they made a funny film and we're proud of it. After the film became a box office rage, the sequel was planned as the audiences were constantly asking for it. On playing Bholi Punjaban, she said she likes her confidence though she's nothing like that Bholi in real life and she is lucky to portray a feisty character like her as such characters for women are hardly written in Bollywood and not many actresses would be able to pull it off.

    "I like the romantic angle of Bholi and Choocha's story and I loved hanging out with Varun during the shoot"- Richa Chadda

    On being asked about which "Fukra" she likes to hang out the most with, the answer was obvious, everyone's favorite Choocha. She also talked about her character of Zarina Malik in Amazon Original Inside Edge. She took interest once she knew Excel Entertainment was involved and that one of the protagonists was a female. The series received universal acclaim and she'll be seen in season 2 soon.

    The actress is inspired by actresses like Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, and Helen Mirren etc. who are still working in their 70s and 80s and she firmly believes that good talent goes a long way. Women don't have to play by society's rules anymore about when they should stop working. On being asked about her favorite character, she picks Devi Pathak from Masaan who is resilient, strong and is fighting a silent war against the society.

    "I am hungry for good content"- Richa Chadda

    She also said that she is hungry for good content and it doesn't matter whether the medium is film, TV or the internet. Amidst all the controversies, she thinks Bollywood one of the fastest evolving industries for the good and audiences are showing appreciation to the female-led and content-oriented films. She doesn't mind sharing the screen space in multi-starrers as some of the best films in India are multi-starrers.

    The actress also likes to make sure she does theatre whenever she gets time as she loves performing irrespective of the medium. She will appear as Paro is Sudhir Mishra's Daasdev and is excited to bring a new, empowered take on a popular character. On being asked whether there will be a Fukrey 3, she said the cast is currently excited about the release of Fukrey Returns and there is a positive buzz all over. If the film performs well in the theatres, there will be a Fukrey 3 as its a franchise.
