Kajol's Helicopter Eela Trailer Is Full Of A Brilliant Ridhhi Sen And Major Nil Battey Sannata Feels

The trailer of Kajol's upcoming film Helicopter Eela is out. Kajol is all set to wield her magic on-screen three years after Dilwale and will be seen playing an overbearing middle-aged single mom. Directed by Pradeep Sarkar of Parineeta and Laga Chunari Main Daag fame, the film looks like a fun take on modern parenting and the journey parents have through their kids. Although the basic plot of the film looks a little been there done that, here is what we thought about the trailer.

A Fun Mother-Son Relationship

From the trailer, it is evident that the story is that of an overbearing single mother and her teenage son. The quirks and idiosyncrasies of the relationship look pretty promising and instead of a heavy dose of emotional drama, the film takes a look at this unique relationship from a fun angle, for most parts at least.

Ridhhi Sen Factor

The guy playing Kajol’s son in the film is none other than Ridhhi Sen who recently won the national award for his Bengali film Nagar Kirtan. It will certainly be interesting to see two dynamite actors from such different generations and such different background of acting coming together for a film like this.

Perils of Parenting

The film, from the looks of the trailer, is all about the perils of parenting especially for single moms and teenage kids. From trying to fit into their world to handling the occasional adolescent outburst, from pulling reins to being the wind under the wings, the film looks like an attempt to understand the adulating of parenthood. The film, in all probabilities, would be a story of Eela’s self-discovery through her son. Also, it will be interesting to see Kajol play an overbearing middle-aged single mom to a teenage son.

Heavy Nil Battey Sannata Feel

The basic premise of the movie, where a mother in order to understand her child better enlists in the same school, in this case, college and the subsequent problems it creates is very similar to that of Swara Bhaskar starrer Nil Battey Sannata. However, the background of the characters are in stark contrast and the film is probably has a less serious tone that of Nil Battey Sannata and of course is much more glossy.

Neha Dhupia Factor

Apart from Kajol and Ridhhi Sen, another actor we spotted in the trailer is Neha Dhupia. Although we are not clear about her character, it looks like she would be the person to help Kajol go through a self-discovery and make her realize that she is also a separate entity apart from being an overbearing mom. Is it just us or of late all of Neha Dhupia’s roles have been that of being the voice of empowerment for women?
