No Joke: Govinda Is Playing Vijay Mallya In A Pahlaj Nihalani Film

Just when you think that you haven't heard a juicy, explosive and unusual news from the world of Bollywood, the industry simply piques your curiosity by announcing a project that not only attracts but demands your attention. Of course, when you happen to be the highly sensitive, cultural and ethical ex-chief of the Central Board of Film Certification Pahlaj Nihalani who till the end fought to showcase the sanskar in films, anything he does now becomes a news.

Already known to produce risque films such as Shola Aur Shabnam and Andaz, Nihalani presented last year's erotic thriller Julie 2. Now, he is back to producing and directing game and has reunited with his Hathkadi star Govinda and is working with him on a film titled Rangeela Raja. Now as colorful and juicy this bit of information is let us tell you that the film is said to be 'inspired' by the biggest scamster of our times, Vijay Mallya. Here's everything you need to know about Rangeela Raja:

Vijay Mallya: The film is said to focus on Vijay Mallya and how he pulled one of the biggest international scams and as per director Nihalani's words, the film will be very entertaining. Keeping everyone guessing, he said that, "Not the Mallya card, the Mallya calendar. The entire look, feel, appearance and rhythm of the song sequence are based on the Kingfisher calendars. As for Govinda playing who you say he is playing, let's just keep the suspense going. I am neither denying nor admitting it," 

Pahlaj Nihalani: Reunited with one of his favorite actors Nihalani has Govinda playing a suave, smooth talking and womanizing businessman who also happens to be a scamster and his entire look is based on Vijay Mallya. Just last week, Nihalani shot a song and dance sequence with his lead actor and Chinni Prakash choreographed the song. As per Nihalani, Govinda is fitter than ever and performed to the difficult steps which no one could have done better than him.

Govinda's comeback: After he took a break and ventured into politics, the actor has found it difficult to get consistent work. Even though he starred in hit films and his performances were appreciated, his projects took a while and his last comeback film Aa Gaya Hero was a disaster. He will be seen in this year's Fry Day and this film is going to release later this year.

Rangeela Raja: The film will feature Govinda in a double role and one of his avatars in inspired from Vijay Mallya and the other avatar is inspired by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev. According to Nihalani, the actor will be playing 4 different characters through his double role.

Also, he said that "It's a comedy of a kind never attempted by Govinda before. Unlike the streetwise comic characters, Govinda is famous for, he plays a very sophisticated character in Rangeela Raja...He has a double role. But he slips into four different characters. Audiences who have been waiting for Govinda’s comeback will be very pleased to see what he has done in ‘Rangeela Raja’. It is almost like a rebirth of Govinda and I feel happy to be doing his comeback film." 

The Story behind scam: While the film is inspired by Vijay Mallya, it will have added flavors for cinematic effect will also focus on the glory days of Mallya's Kingfisher brand. Though it will be interesting to see how Nihalani makes Govinda's other character based on Baba Ramdev fit into this scenario.
