Sherni Trailer: Vidya Balan Has To Battle The Obstacles And Find Her Way Out Through The Dense Jungle, Just Like The Tigress; Watch

Vidya Balan has been giving us back-to-back delightful, and memorable performances. And the fact that she is teaming up with Newton director Amit Masurkar is something that has already made us jumping with joy and beaming with excitement. Now, the trailer of the film, Sherni is out, and well, it does promise to live up to all the expectations that we have had.

The film is about a forest officer, played by Balan, being posted in an area that is being troubled by a tigress. The team has pressure from all ends- from the locals to the politicians, but it has to find a way out. The team is searching for a 'sherni' that is troubled and trying to find its way back in the dense jungle, battling all the obstacles. But as we move through the trailer itself, we begin to understand what the sherni also metaphorically stands for.

Vidya Balan looks delightful, and it is a given that she would nail this part as well. The film also boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Neeraj Kabi, Vijay Raaz, Ila Arun, Sharat Saxena, and Brijendra Kala. Watch the trailer here:

Talking about the film, Vidya said, “Ever since I first heard the story of Sherni, I found the world fascinating and so far removed from my own. Also the character I play, Vidya is a woman of few words but many dimensions. The film deals with a sensitive topic that touches upon respect, mutual understanding, and co-existence, not just between man-animal, but between humans as well. It gives me immense joy to bring this unique character and story to the global audience through Amazon Prime Video and hope to engage them in unexpected ways.”

Director Amit Masurkar said, " SHERNI is an intricately-layered story, exploring the complex issues of conflict between humankind and animals. Vidya Balan plays a mid-level forest officer who despite obstacles and pressures, works with her team and local allies to preserve a balance in the environment. Working with her, the amazing ensemble cast and the uber-talented crew has been an incredible experience for me. I hope that releasing Sherni on Amazon Prime Video will help this story reach a wide and diverse audience both in India and across the world.”

The film will release on June 18th on Amazon Prime.
