Why Shah Rukh Khan's Films Always End Up Clashing With Other Bollywood Films?

Though we can't see the future, there was one thing quite clear during the Christmas time of 2018. No, not the weather or the sky but a clean and clear week for a Bollywood release. As it is the time of festivals and Holidays, it is a given that it will be a big star release, now, is it a Khan release? Yes. Is it an Aamir Khan release? No! But its still a Khan slot and SRK's untitled dwarf film directed by Anand L Rai is scheduled to release during Christmas 2018.

But, its no more a clear weekend as 3 films will be battling it out at the box office. Sushant Singh Rajput 's Kedarnath and Rohit Shetty 's untitled film with Ranveer Singh will clash with SRK's film. As it is the time of holidays and festivals, other producers and studios also decide to release their films featuring popular stars to rake in the moolah at the box office. Now, most of the filmmakers tend to stay 2 weeks clear of any Khan release and schedule their films either before or after that. As the there are only a handful of festivals plus limited long holiday seasons, the makers have no choice but to release their films on the same weekend.

Both parties wish to earn more and mostly it is a Khan film that earns the most but the overall box office earnings of both the films take a severe beating. There are instances like in 2015, Dilwale earned 148 Crores in India while Bajirao Mastani earned 184 Crores though Dilwale comfortably beat Bajirao in terms of worldwide gross due to SRK's immense popularity. It means that if it's an underwhelming film, even the Khan surname won't save it as the audiences are looking for decent content these days.

But its the overall number of the domestic box office of his film that seems to take a strong hit.
