While watching a film, along with the storyline in hand what matters is how the film is going to end. Of course, it is a deciding factor, right? No one wants a film to leave its audience disappointed after making all these efforts in the first place. Here are some Hollywood movies that might have ended up differently than you think.

    Fatal Attraction

    In the film

The film ends with a violent death of Alex Forrest as Beth Gallagher shoots her in the chest with Dan’s gun. After which, the final scene of the film shows police cars outside Dan and Beth Gallagher’s house and Dan after giving police a statement proceeds with Beth to the living room and the camera focusing on a picture of the Gallagher’s family. Well, but that’s not how the movie was supposed to end.

    The Alternate Ending

The original ending of “Fatal Attraction” had Dan getting arrested by police on suspicion of Alex Forrest murder. After Dan’s arrest, Beth finds a tape from Alex in which she threatens Dan that she would kill herself. Which then shifts to a flashback of Alex slitting her throat with Dan’s kitchen knife to make it look like a murder committed by Dan.

    I am Legend

Based on the novel ‘I am Legend’ by Richard Matheson, American post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film, “I am Legend” by ‘Francis Lawrence’ is based after a virus that was created to cure cancer but ends up wiping out most of the mankind. The virus kills about 90% of the people infected by it and mutates 9% into predatory and vampiric mutants referred to as Darkseekers. Being immune to the virus, Neville works to develop a cure against the virus while he defends himself from the hostile mutants.

    In the film

I am Legend ends up with the Darkseeker barging in the place, Neville drawing blood in a vial from the infected woman he cured and gives it to his allies Anna and shuts Anna and Ethan inside a coal chute and then takes a grenade and charges towards the infected and sacrifices his own life to save the cure. Anna and Ethan, later, are shown walking towards the survivor’s camp where Anna hands over the cure to the military personnel.

Maybe pretty satisfying but originally it had a different ending.

    The Alternate Ending

The Darkseekers, in the original ending, are shown merely trying to rescue a captured infected woman on whom Neville was experimenting to find a cure. The scene was supposed to end with Neville returning the woman to the Darkseekers by injecting her the virus to turn her back into a Darkseeker as she was almost cured. Neville comes to a realization that the Darkseekers were not the bad ones and which left him thinking of all the experiments that he carried out for so long.

The movie ends with a fight between Kate and Esther and both of them fall into the water when the ice shatters (thanks to Max who was trying to shoot Esther). Esther tries to kill Kate but Kate manages to escape out but Esther clings to her leg. Esther hides a knife behind her, begs Kate saying, “Please don’t let me die, Mommy” and Kate angrily responds that she is not her Mommy and kicks Esther, breaking her neck and leaves her to sink and escapes with Max.

    The Alternate Ending

In the other intended ending, Kate fights Esther and ends up escaping her house along with her children and leaves Esther behind. Soon police enter the house but Esther styles herself again as a little girl and greets the police sweetly to fool them.

The alternate ending could have given a possible sequel.

The ending of the film shows Scott leaving with Ramona after defeating the last evil ex Gideon and freeing Ramona from his control and Knives accepts the end of her relationship with Scott.

But there was another ending that was decided for the film.

    The Alternate Ending

The original ending to the film was with Scott taking her previous love interest Knives and not Ramona, after defeating Ramona’s seven evil exes.

But of course, the test audience did not like Scott fighting over for Ramona for major parts of the film and not ending up with Ramona.

    In the film

The film ends with Evan burning down all his journals and videos so as to end his time traveling abilities as it would save the people from being hurt which he might cause with it.

    The alternate end

Another ending that was decided for the movie was with Evan’s brain damaged. Being aware that he is to be taken to a psychiatric facility which will make him lose all his time traveling ability, Evan makes an attempt to go back to his pre-birth self and strangles himself in the womb of his mother with the umbilical cord to prevent the multi-generational curse for continuing further.

Anyway film had to end one way or the other, so it did.
