When Ryan Gosling was in the first grade, he got so influenced by the ‘Sylvester Stallone’ action film ‘First Blood’ that he brought steak knives to his school and threw them at other children during recess which led to his suspension from the school. At this young age, he was evaluated for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) but was not diagnosed with it. His struggle with ADHA caused him a lot of difficulties and heartache.

Ryan was often bullied during the elementary school, so much so that he hated being a child. He had no friend till the age of 14 or 15. As Ryan was unable to read, his mother left her job and gave him homeschooling for a year.

Watching 'Dick Tracy' as a child, Ryan got inspired to be an actor. He was encouraged to be a performer as his sister was a performer. Ryan and his sister sang songs at the wedding and he performed in front of audiences from a very early age. As performing was the only form that he was praised for, it gave a boost to his self- confidence.

He became very close friends with the co-cast Justin Timberlake and also lived together for 6 months when they were in the second year of the show.
