The fact that camps exist in Bollywood is not exactly news. For the longest time big production houses, directors and even superstar actors have maintained a tribe of their own and worked closely with them on multiple projects. Although it sounds unfair, but it an arrangement that works for both. While the biggies love maintaining their coterie of loyal cheer leaders, for debutants camps are almost a sure shot to success. However, although it is true that belonging to a Shah Rukh, Salman and YRF has worked for most actors, there are a few unlucky ones whose career did not even benefit from belonging to camps.

Amrita Rao
One of her biggest hits Viavah, made by Sooraj Barjatya made her a total Rajshri Productions loyalist. Sooraj Barjatya was so fond of her that he even offered the role of Salman’s sister in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which she declined. But despite belonging to a major camp like Rajshri and being a part of many hits, Amrita Rao’s career never took the flight one might have expected at the beginning of her career. She was last seen in Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha in a supporting role, but after the film tanked at the box-office we did no see Amrita on the big screen again. Instead, she chose to make a foray into television but even there she could not do much.

Arjun Rampal
Somewhere in the late 2000s Arjun Rampal became a complete loyalist of the Shah Rukh Khan. It paid off well for him since he was cast in major films like Om Shanti Om and Ra.One as the main antagonist. Although his acting chops have evolved really impressively over the year and his good looks have made girls swoon forever, Arjun Rampal could never really become an A-lister in Bollywood despite belonging to one of the most influential camps in the business.

Zarine Khan
Salman Khan has launched many new faces and most of them especially actresses, apart from Katrina Kaif and Jacqueline Fernandez, have not been able to carve a niche for themselves in Bollywood. But one of the biggest disappointment of the Salman Khan camp is the Katrina Kaif lookalike Zarine Khan. She had her debut opposite Salman in Veer and then appeared in some forgettable films, none of which gave her the success that Salman Bhai might have envisioned for her.

Nisha Kothari
She was launched in Bollywood by Ram Gopal Varma with the film James. She tried to build an image of a hot and bold actress but her lack of acting abilities was difficult to ignore. Although RGV went on to cast her in multiple movies, his own career at the time started being shaky. Even though Nisha managed to be a part of the camp that made stars like Urmila Matondkar or Manoj Bajpayee, she was not able to do much in Bollywood career. She finally bid the screen farewell after a few raunchy numbers.

Antara Mali
This was another RGV find that only him and not Bollywood was impressed with. She was able to grab headlines with her bold act in films like Naach and Road, but things never really brightened up for her. She gave a decent performance in films like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, but as far as success in concerned in Bollywood belonging to RGV’s camp did not help her cause much and she finally decided to move away from the limelight completely.

Shreyas Talpade
Soon after his debut in Iqbal, he was noticed for his solid acting abilities. In films like Apna Sapna Money Money and Welcome To Sajjanpur he also showed his superb comic abilities and it was after that he became a regular with the Rohit Shetty camp. But slowly and steadily he started going far from the limelight and in the present he is only seen in Rohit Shetty multi-starrers. He has made a foray into Marathi films and is actually doing better than he ever managed to in Bollywood despite belonging to the superhit Rohit Shetty camps.

Rahul Roy
He was a hardcore Bhatt camp loyalist that gave him his life’s biggest hit with Aashiqui that is still considered a musical classic. However, although Bhatt tried to make this collaboration work with films like Junoon, Rahul Roy’s character failed to take off entirely. He was last seen in 2015’s 2B Or Not 2B which sank without a trace at the box office. As of now, he is probably remembered as the winner of Bigg Boss season 1 for the generation that has no clue about Aashiqui that rocked the 90s.
- 8/10
Arjun Kapoor
One might argue that Arjun Kapoor is not exactly a flop actor and it is probably true, but you would probably expect much better from someone who had a dream debut with none other than Yash Raj Films which has mostly produced superstars of Bollywood. Despite being a hardcore YRF loyalist and working in productions like Aurangzeb and Gunday, he has not able to reach the potential that most YRF loyalists have managed to achieve. While we hope good things from him in future, he is probably one YRF product who has not lived up to the camp.
- 9/10
Uday Chopra
Poor thing did not even have a choice of not belonging to YRF camp given it was literally his ‘ghar ki baat’. The flop saga of Uday Chopra would have been astonishing anyway but him having such a tragic Bollywood career after belonging to the coveted YRF camp is just baffling. His father Yash Chopra and brother Aditya Chopra has made multiple attempts to salvage his doomed career, but Uday seems to be beyond any help. Dhoom franchise, his rozgaar yojana, is the only place for him in Bollywood right now.
- 10/10
Bipasha Basu
She was full of promise and potential when she became a Bhatt camp loyalist with films like Raaz. But despite being the queen of horror films and even giving some major hits here and there, Bipasha Basu could never be a part of the A-list actresses in Bollywood. She is popular among people for her style, body relationships and marriage to casanova Karan Singh Grover but it is difficult to remember the last Bollywood outing of Bipasha Basu that even remotely worked at the box office.
