Romance is undoubtedly one of Bollywood's biggest strength. The industry has given iconic romances like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Pyaasa, Silsila, Kabhi Kabhi, Guide etc. which have not only earned rave reviews in India but abroad as well. Almost every other film industry in the world is inspired by Bollywood's take on romance.
These films have also established a number of actors as major box-office draws and catapulted them into the leagues of superstars. Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan etc. have been part of some of the most successful romantic films of all time and are now enjoying the perks of superstardom. These films have also won big at Filmfare Awards, often called the Oscars of India. The 90s decade had as many as 8 romantic films that won the best film award, though, in 2000s, only 6 romantic films have won this award.
