20 Years Of Judwaa: 7 Facts You Probably Did Not Know About This Salman Khan Film
Judwaa released on 7th February 1997 and Salman Khan became the new man who was acing comedy and romance just perfectly. While we had gotten a Sanskaari Prem, there was also the rough and tough Raja who everyone loved alike. Judwaa proved to be a game changer and raked massive collections post release. Such had been its popularity that it was remade 20 years later in 2017.
But did you know Salman Khan was not even supposed to be a part of the film? Mindblowing, isn’t it? Check out 7 facts about the film that you probably did not know:
1. Salman Khan was not supposed to be a part of the film
Judwaa was not supposed to have the star who gave it the flavor- Salman Khan. Actually, the concept was being filmed by David Dhawan and Nandu Tolani with Govinda. When Salman heard about it, he requested Govinda to let him and Sajid Nadiadwala do the film. Govinda accepted the request and that’s how Salman ended up in the film.
2. Rambha was also not the first choice
The role of Rambha was first offered to Mamta Kulkari. It was after she rejected the film that it went to Rambha.
3. Tabu was also a part of the film
The voice that you hear from Rambha’s character is actually Tabu’s. It was she who dubbed for the character!
4. The film marked the debut of Pyaar Ka Punchnama actor Omkar Kapoor and Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddhant Kapoor
The two were a part of the film as child artists. While Omkar played young Salman, Siddhant played young Shakti Kapoor
5. The film was a remake of a 1994 Telugu film
Judwaa was the remake of Nagarjuna starrer 1994 film, Hello Brother (which is also the name of another Salman Khan film). Which again was a remake of the 1992 Jackie Chan film, Twin Dragons.
6. This is Salman’s first film in a double role
Salman Khan had later appeared in a double role in Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo.
7. The film was originally named Janmabhoomi
