10 Undeserving Films Which Won The Oscar For Best Film
The Oscars are the biggest Awards night in Hollywood as all the major talent gets under one roof to recognize the achievements of all the best films and performances of the previous year. There have been numerous actors, films, directors and other professionals who have gone on to achieve a legendary status in the film-world thanks to their Oscar wins.
An Oscar win automatically catapults the winners into the big leagues and every winner is flooded with the offers from all over the world. From big-budget studio tentpoles to art-house/independent films, the winners can select any film of their choice. Sill, there have been a number of films which did not deserve to win but won and later on created a lot of controversies. The academy has more than often swayed towards the films which have later on being called over-rated and undeserving. Here are 10 undeserving films which won an Oscar for the best film:
Birdman (2015): The Michael Keaton starrer is undoubtedly a good film but numerous critics and reviewers thought that Boyhood should have won the best picture and we couldn't agree more.
The Artist (2012): The film received universal acclaim and the Academy was swayed by The Artist's good old charm and won the best picture Award. Many thought The Tree of Life should have won.
Crash (2005): Its often called the worst best picture winner of all time and almost everyone agrees on this fact. Munich, Brokeback Mountain or Capote should have won.
A Beautiful Mind (2002): Most of the people think that The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring should have won the best picture.
Forrest Gump (1995): Again, one of the most undeserving films to have won an Oscar, the film beat the likes of Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption to win the Oscar.
Driving Miss Daisy (1990): Many people think that Daniel Day-Lewis' My LKeft Foot should have won the Oscar.
Dances With Wolves (1991): Martin Scorcese's Goodfellas was overlooked for this Kevin Costner starrer and it is one of the biggest blunders by the academy.
Shakespeare in Love (1999): Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan should have won the best picture but this John Madden directorial won the Best Picture award.
Out of Africa (1986): Many people think that it was undeserving and The Colour Purple should have won.
The King's Speech (2011): The film beat the likes of modern classics like The Social Network, who, many thought, was robbed of its best picture award.
