5 Bollywood Actors Who Achieved More In Films Outside India
In the strange land of Bollywood, nothing guarantees success and the lack of it is not always a testament to the actor’s capabilities. Thus, it is not unheard of actors who had limited success in Bollywood be the superstar or at least a known face of other film industries outside. Whether it’s the domestic film industry of our neighborhood country Bangladesh or the big bad world of Hollywood, these comparatively less famous stars of Bollywood have left their mark outside the Hindi film industry.
Chunky Pandey
Although he has been a part of a lot of successful films, but Chunky Pandey was never really a superstar in Bollywood. However, things turned out to be pretty different when forayed into the world of Bangladeshi films. His first film in Bangladesh ‘ Shami Keno Ashami’ recorded a phenomenal run at the box office and Chunky Pandey quickly became the superstar of Bangladeshi cinema and went on to do quite a few number of films in the industry that also were very successful
Ali Fazal
When Ali Fazal came into Bollywood people were taken by his boyish charm and acting capabilities but his popularity was never really mainstream. However, his achievements outside Bollywood has been more striking than in it. Ali Fazal has been a part of the superhit Fast and Furious franchise and even played the lead in recently made English film Victoria and Abdul opposite legendary Judy Dench. The movie also recently made it to Oscar nomination in the Best Costume category and became yet another Indian to have a presence at Oscars
Mallika Sherawat
Mallika had a bold debut in Bollywood that gave her the initial popularity like many other actresses before and after her but she could hardly ever be an A-lister in Bollywood. Thus, when she bagged a role in Jacky Chan film she surprised a lot of people. The actress since then has shifted her base from Mumbai to Hollywood and is totally focusing on international projects now.
Suraj Sharma
The Delhi boy has been much more popular in Hollywood than in Bollywood. The success of his Hollywood film Life of Pi surpassed his recent Bollywood outing ‘Phillauri’ by leaps and bounds. The actor also has a number of international projects in his kitty that can make him quite a known face in Hollywood.
Saeed Jaffery
The veteran actor was respected and loved by Bollywood fans as well but his popularity was not quite sky high even after giving knock out performances in many hits. However when it comes to Hollywood, Saeed Jaffery bagged roles in films such as The Man Who Would Be King and the much acclaimed Gandhi.
