In 2016 Aamir Khan came up with a film that set the box-office on fire and went on to become the highest grossing Bollywood film ever. Dangal also became the highest grossing film in the overseas market and is All time highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. 2017 also saw the release of big films but nothing could match the wrestling drama.
In 2018, there are going to be a number of big-star vehicles that have the audiences' attention ever since they were announced. The 3 Khans are coming up with their own films while the younger crop of actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh will be starring in Sanjay Dutt Biopic and Padmavati & Simbaa.
Every year we see Bollywood films breaking box-office records set by films the previous year and establishing many new records. Here are 5 Films of 2018 that can break Dangal's All-Time Record:
Thugs Of Hindostan: The one thing that is certain is that only Aamir Khan is the man who can beat himself. His last 3 films PK, Dangal and Dhoom 3 have been All Time Blockbusters and everyone knows he does something different in every film. He will be teaming up again with his Dhoom 3 director Vijay Krishna Acharya and the film is said to be an action-adventure film.
Dwarf Film: Shah Rukh Khan had a mixed year somewhat in 2017 with Raees becoming a hit at the box-office but Jab Harry Met Sejal tanking badly at the box-office. He is working on an untitled Dwarf film with Tanu Weds Manu director Anand L Rai that also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The film is said to be one of the most technically advanced films in Bollywood and hopes are high from this film.
Race 3: Salman Khan remains the biggest box-office draw in India and all of his films, even if they are bad, manage to gross more than 100 Crores at the box-office. Race is an established franchise with both the previous films becoming a hit and with the addition of Salman Khan as the new leader, the expectations are sky high.
Padmavati: The Sanjay Leela Bhansali was supposed to release on 1st December this year but due to controversies, the film is going to release in 2018. The trailer of the film was universally praised and the controversies surrounding the film has only piqued the audiences interest in the film. We know it is going to be a hit, just how big, remains to be seen.
2.0: If there is one film everyone can sure shot bet on, it is the Superstar Rajinikanth starrer. The film is made over a budget of 450 Crore INR and is the most expensive Indian film to date. Also, Akshay Kumar is starring in a prominent role and the film has a worldwide appeal. It will be interesting to see whether it can break Dangal's record or not.
