6 Important Lessons That The Demise Of Kalank At the Box-Office Taught Us
The worst has finally happened. Despite an extended weekend, the box-office collection of Kalank is on a steady downslide. The film has managed to rake in only 66.03 crores which is not even close to the production budget of the film.
With a dream cast and magnificent canvas, Kalank is very much on its way to become an epic disappointment. As this glossy ship sinks, it is teaching us a couple of interesting things about Bollywood. Read on to know what lessons we are talking about.
Varun Dhawan’s Flop
Starting his career with Student of the Year in 2012, Varun has been a part of 12 films, including Kalank, out of which 11 are clear successes. It almost seemed that Varun Dhawan can do no wrong, but Kalank has finally ended his winning streak and Varun Dhawan, unfortunately, is all set to taste his first failure at the box-office.
Varun- Alia Chemistry
All the four films they have done together before Kalank are legit hits. In fact, we have given Varun and Alia the tag of Shah Rukh-Kajol of their generation and wholeheartedly believed that two most loved stars of Bollywood and their crackling chemistry on-screen would be enough to pull any film, irrespective of its content. However, Kalank proved that is definitely not the case.
Alia’s Choice Of Script
There is little doubt about the fact that Alia is one of the finest actresses of her generation. It is not just her craft, but also her choice of films that we have run out of words to appreciate. Even Shandaar, which is probably Alia’s biggest letdown was probably an interesting idea on paper that was ruined due to sloppy execution. However, with Kalank Alia proved that even she is not immune to selecting wrong scripts.
Madhuri Dixit
Every tissue in our body is telling us not to say this, but it is true. Madhuri is beautiful, graceful and a lot of wonderful things. It is not for no reason that she was the reigning queen of Bollywood in the 90s. However, the 90s are over except for throwbacks but Madhuri has not really got the memo. Her brand of acting that exudes 90s drama is simply out of place in modern Bollywood. It is perhaps the harshest lesson to learn from the film, but unfortunately, that is how it is.
Revelation Called Aditya Roy Kapoor
Well, all is not lost with Kalank. Despite its myriad of flaws, Kalank might be the most important film in Aditya Roy Kapur’s career. Yes, we have been a fan of his dreamy looks, but the way he has unleashed himself as an actor on- screen with Kalank is a massive revelation and probably the best thing about the film.
