8 Upcoming Bollywood Franchises That Are Reshuffling Their Cast
Franchises have always been a safe bet for Bollywood. Relying on the recall value the first instalment, franchises provide a platform for the audiences to enjoy their favourite characters over and over again. But whether it’s about long commitments or changing equation in Bollywood, most franchises of late have begun the trend of shuffling their main cast while keeping the essence of the first film alive. Here are a few franchises to be released in 2018 that is going to reshuffle the main cast while retaining a few members from the original cast.
Race 3
If we could just forget the tragedies that were Machine and Players, Abbas-Mustan has been a duo that Bollywood fans have looked upon for stylish and sleek action-thriller-dramas. One of the most successful franchises presented by this duo has been the Race franchise. With Akshay Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Anil Kapoor , Jacqueline Fernandes, Deepika Padukone appearing in the previous instalments with Saif Ali Khan in the lead, this time makers have decided to add even more star power by roping in Salman Khan for essaying the primary characters. Actor Salim Saqeeb would also be seen in the third instalment with Jacqueline and Anil Kapoor being the only recurring member s from the old cast.
Housefull 4
Love it or hate it, but you cannot disagree that Housefull has become a major comedy franchise of Bollywood over the years. After the first instalment that came out in 2010, the franchise has been able to maintain its popularity. The fourth instalment, apart from retaining Akhshay Kumar, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Boman Irani and Chunky Pandey, is all set to feature Sanjay Dutt, Parineeti Chopra, Disha Patani and Kiara Advani .
Total Dhaamal
Another beloved comedy franchise has been the Dhaamal series that brought together some of the best comic talents in Bollywood. After retaining the entire cast of the first one including Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Javed Jaffery and Aashish Chaudhary and adding Mallika Sherawat and Kangana Ranaut into the mix for the second one, the third one would bring the power packed trio of Ajay Devgan, Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor alive on screen.
No Entry Main Entry
Fans who expected the sequel of No Entry to re-create the amazement that was Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan’s chemistry would have to bid farewell to their hopes. According to media reports, the next instalment that would be called No Entry Main Entry might feature the uncle-nephew jodi of Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. After Mubarakan, this might be another chance for the duo to deliver a knock out comic performance.
Don 3
No, Shah Rukh Khan is not being replaced as the main lead. But our dear ole Pee Cee would probably not play the ‘Jungli Billi’ in the third movie of the Don franchise. But sweat not, because if reports are to be believed then Deepika Padukone might play the lead opposite Shah Rukh and give us another stylish suspense drama.
Student of the Year 2
The launchpad of current heart throbs of the nation, Sidhharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, the makers of SOTY is all set open admissions for new students. The movie is going to feature Tiger Shroff and Chunk Pandey’s daughter Ananya Pandey in lead roles. Apart from the cast, Karan Johar has also decided to pass on the director’s chair to Punit Malhotra of I Hate Luv Storys and Ek Main Hu Aur Ek Tu fame.
Dabangg 3
Bhai fans rejoice! The makers of Dabangg are all geared up to bring Chulbul Pandey back to the screens for the third time. Though there has been some confusions about Sonakshi Sinha reprising her character Rajjo, but certain media reports have suggested that Parineeti Chopra and even Amy Jackson might join our Robin Hood Pandey to bring the fun of Dabangg back.
Dhoom 4
Hold your breath and pray to the almighty that the media reports are true. Because if they are to be believed then arguably Bollywood’s biggest franchise will bring the duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh on the screens. After Salman Khan rubbishing off the rumours of doing Dhoom $ the gossip gully of Bollywood is ripe with the rumour that Shah Rukh Khan might play the villain and Ranveer might reprise Jai Dixit’s role that was reserved for Abhishek Bachhan for the last 3 instalments.
