6 Times Bollywood Honoured The Legendary Freedom Fighter, Bhagat Singh
Bhagat Singh is one of the most iconic figures in modern Indian history. Whether it is his sacrifice, his strong beliefs or the fact that he was instrumental in our country's independence from the clasp of the British Raj.
And he's not only popular in our history books but in the history of Bollywood, too, the freedom fighter has etched a distinctive mark.
Here are all the times the freedom fighter was portrayed on the silver screen:
In 2006, Sidharth played Bhagat Singh in this Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti*. The movie compared today's youth with the freedom fighters fighting for Indian independence.
It seems a little strange but in 2002, 3 Bollywood films were made about the life and sacrifice of Bhagat Singh. The most popular one is of course Rajkumar Santoshi's The Legend of Bhagat Singh*, for which Ajay Devgn won the National Award. The other two were: Shaheed-E-Azam (with Sonu Sood) and 23 March 1931: Shaheed (with Bobby Deol).
