6 Bollywood Actors Who Have Sworn Off From Doing Films In These Genres
Bollywood is one of the largest film producing industries in the world and is known to churn out the highest number of movies for any industry. Every year, we see films being produced in different genres be it romantic, action, thriller, horror, comedy or sex-comedies. Almost every actor has once in his/her career been a part of films of the above-mentioned genres.
But after an actor gets repeated success in the same genre, he/she starts getting typecast in those roles and the future offers from directors and producers are full of stories set in the same genre. As an actor, it limits your potential and actors prefer to experiment more than often in order to grow professionally. A number of Bollywood actors have publically admitted that they won't do a film in a particular genre. Here are 6 such actors:
Ritesh Deshmukh: After the success of sex-comedies of films in Masti and Kyaa Kool Hai Hum franchise, he started getting offers to do more films like these. He announced that Great Grand Masti would be his last sex-comedy and he won't do any more sex-comedies.
Sanjay Dutt: The actor was offered a number of comedies and sex-comedies but said that he will only do films that his children will be comfortable watching.
Deepika Padukone: The actress has said that she won't be doing any more historical dramas after Padmaavat. The film was mired in controversies since it was announced and the protests took an ugly turn when the film released.
Kangana Ranaut: The actress, after the success of Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, only wanted to do solo projects and walked out of a couple of films where she was signed as the female lead.
Rishi Kapoor: The actor who mostly starred in romantic films in the 80s and the 90s, took a sabbatical from acting in the late 90s after his films started bombing at the box-office. As per his autobiography, he decided to stop doing romantic lead roles and started appearing as a character actor. His last film as a romantic lead was Karobaar in 2000 (released after an 8-year delay).
Ajay Devgn: The actor said in an interview than after Singham and Golmaal, a lot of kids became his fans and after he did Rascal, he received a lot of complaints from the kids and their parents why would he do a film filled with double meaning jokes. He has said no to sex-comedies since then.
