Bollywood Celebrities Who Have Served As A Jury Member At Cannes Film Festival
Cannes Film Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals which take place every year and some of the best films of the year have their world premiere here. The beautiful French town remains in the limelight for a number of days as stars from every corner of the world descend here and walk the iconic red carpet.
India has a historic connection with the festival as Chetan Anand's Neecha Nagar was one of the first films to be screened here and it also won the prize for the best picture. Indian films and Indian talents have been very well recognized by the festival and some of the prominent names from India have been called up to serve on the Cannes Jury. Here are some Bollywood celebs who have served as a jury member at Cannes:
Shekhar Kapur: The Mr. India director served on the Cannes Jury in the year 2010. He is known in the West for directing Elizabeth films.
Vidya Balan: The Dirty Picture actress was chosen to serve on the Cannes Jury in the year 2013.
Aishwarya Rai: In the year 2003, the Devdas actress served on the Cannes Jury. She has been a regular at the Cannes Red Carpet.
Sharmila Tagore: The yesteryear actress was chosen to serve on the Cannes Jury in 2009.
Nandita Das: She is the only Bollywood personality who has served twice on the Jury, once in 2005 and other time in 2007. Her film Manto is scheduled to be screened at this year's festival.
Mira Nair: She served as a Jury member in the year 1990.
Mrinal Sen: The legendary filmmaker served on the Cannes Jury in 1982.
Chetan Anand: The Neecha Nagar director served as a Jury member in 1950.
