7 Bollywood Celebs Who Stole The Show From The Khans This Year!
2017 has been the year of small budget films. This is the year when the big films like Jagga Jasoos and Tubelight failed to make a decent collection at the box office but underdogs like Hindi Medium, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Sabdhan won hearts all over the nation. We can safely say that even though the Khans have their own hold on Bollywood, there were many underdog actors who proved to be an absolute winner at the box office.
Here is a list of 7 Bollywood stars who stole the show from the Khans in 2017:
1. Irrfan Khan
Irrfan had two releases this year- Hindi Medium and Qarib Qarib Singlle. Both the films gave us to see a new avatar of the actor who is generally considered a no-nonsense and serious performer made us laugh out loud with his perfect comic timings. He did not make us tickle but spontaneously break into a laughter with his body language. There is no questioning his acting ability anyway. His films had been a box office success as well.
2. Rajkummar Rao
The actor had 5 releases in a single year. While the start of the year was a little slow for the actor with Trapped not being able to collect much at the box-office and Behen Hogi Teri failed to attract the audiences, his second half of the year was rocking. He blew our mind with his diversity in Bareilly Ki Barfi and his performance was a delight to watch in Newton. Even Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana had an average collection. The actor worked in all sort of genres from thrillers to rom-coms to dramas and even a dark humour. He even made us his fans with his web series- Bose: Dead or Alive. This year definitely belonged to him!
3. Nawazuddin Siddique
The year saw his first solo commercially successful film, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz. The year was diverse for the actor who is considered one of the most talented performers in the industry. While his first release, Raees, was another successful film, we saw him in an entirely new avatar in Mom. He also displayed his dancing skills in Munna Micheal. He was also part of Monsoon Shootout.
4. Konkona Sensharma
Konkona is an actress par excellence. She has been part of both mainstream and parallel cinema and has proved her mettle in both! This year, we saw her not just as an actress, but also a director in A Death In The Gunj.
5. Manav Kaul
The theatre actor tasted success, which was long overdue, in Tumhari Sulu. He aced the role of a broad-minded yet insecure husband who ultimately overcomes his shortcomings. His performance was heart-warming!
6. Pankaj Tripathi
He has as many as 7 films Even though he did not have the major screen time in all the films, he played crucial characters that were not just diverse but also required a lot of nuances. He did justice to all and we loved his performance in Newton the most, followed by Gurgaon!
7. Bhumi Pednekar
The one film old actress appeared in a completely new avatar in both her 2017 releases. She played a feisty woman in both, who was strong and had an opinion of her own. She has been choosing her films with care and we absolutely loved how she could steal the show even though she was paired opposite the much popular and experienced Akshay Kumar in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha!
