6 Bollywood Films Which Received A Mild Censor Rating Abroad Than In India
The Indian Censor Board of Film Certification stays always manages to stay in the news and mostly for the wrong reasons thanks to its habit of preaching and teaching moral education to the Indian audiences. Last year, Pahlaj Nihalani, the (in)famous CBFC chief was roasted by everyone from the film fraternity, media to critics and politicians.
He famously trimmed down the length of kissing scene in Spectre (James Bond's latest outing) while objected to the release of Lipstick Under My Burkha, a film that dealt with liberation of female sexuality. He banned the film but later had to relent and pass the film with an 'A' certificate. Even before than him, CBFC gave U or U/A ratings to the films that deserved an A rating and vice versa. But the same Bollywood films would often receive mild ratings in foreign countries. Here are 6 Bollywood films which received mild censor rating abroad:
Gangs of Wasseypur (I): The gangster saga directed by Anurag Kashyap received huge critical acclaim all over the world. The film is said to be a modern classic. The film was full of violence, abusive language and adult content. it received A rating (18 or above) in India but got a 15 Certificate in the UK (above 15 can watch it).
Murder: The Anurag Basu directorial was given A rating in India for its adult content but the same film got a 12 Rating in the UK.
Ugly: Anurag Kashyap's dark and twisted thriller earned the A certificate in India but it received a 16 Rating in the Netherlands.
