Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor Khan Anniversary: The Couple Answer 10 Fun Questions On Their Relationship
Bollywood’s power couple, actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, are made for each other. Saif’s strong personality completely compliments the outspoken and fearless Kareena Kapoor. Their son, Taimur Ali Khan, who was born in December 2016, has become a hit in the paparazzi, right from the time he made his first public appearance. As the couple completes five years of marriage today, here’s looking at 10 things they said about each other that made us go ‘awww’’
Oh, this is something even she doesn’t know. She was 14, sitting on a ledge outside a makeup room, staring ahead with big green eyes. Someone told me ‘this is Karisma Kapoor’s kid sister’. I thought she was simply stunning.
2) Saif on Kareena
She’s so special. She can be a child or a woman, at her discretion and convenience, which is so endearing. Despite her background, she’s more professional and hard working than most ‘self-made’ people.
3) Kareena on her live-in relationship with Saif
When I lived-in with Saif, it was a taboo, when I married him, it was a bigger thing. People said it won’t work.
4) How Kareena convinced their parents for marriage
We threatened that if they didn’t let us do it our way, we’d run away to London and get married alone. Saif was never boyfriend material. He’s a passionate lover, he’s been naughty, he’s indulged his wild side and now he’s grounded.
5) Saif on his relationship with Kareena
I think timing is everything. I met Kareena at a point in my life when I was ready to consolidate and build in every area of my life. She brought a great sense of stability; I felt like we were able to create a solid foundation on which I could build emotionally, financially and professionally.
6) Kareena on Saif’s proposal for marriage
He actually proposed to me a couple of months after we met in Paris. In fact, his father (Indian cricketing legend Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi aka Tiger Pataudi) proposed to his mother (veteran actress Sharmila Tagore) also in Paris, when she was shooting a film ‘An Evening in Paris’. And we were on a holiday in Paris as well and I was just like ‘Yeah, of course’. I think it was at the bar and I think I said no and then there was one more time (he proposed), on the same trip, and then we were at the Notre Dame Church. I was just like let’s not talk about it. Because I was into my career and I was like ‘Let me think about it’ and obviously two days later I was like, ‘Yeah’.
7) Kareena on why she said ‘yes’ to Saif
Today I am a Wife and all my life I will work, and earn money and my husband will support me. That is the only condition ( on which) I married Saif.
8) Saif on being called Saifeena.
Being a man, I have a right to cringe at being called Saifeena. It’s like painting me pink and wrapping me in a lacy ribbon.
9) Kareena on Saif as a father
Saif has been a parent before. He is a father, and the coolest one I know. He is amazing with his children, and they are so well brought up. I just want him to be like that with our child. I don’t know how I’m going to be as a mother. But with Saif, it’s quite strange: Saif is very spoilt, and he spoils me a lot too. But with his children, he’s very grounded. Suddenly, he is all stable-headed and becomes another person. It’s quite amazing.
10) Saif on how Taimur completes his relationship with Kareena
I think it’s also a great expression of my relationship with Kareena. To have a child now completes us. There is something about a baby that is kind of half of mine and half of hers, so, it’s a nice feeling.
