Almost everyone from the Kapoor family was present at the occasion and there were tons of pictures and videos doing rounds in the social media that showed the family having a gala time. Tragedy struck on Saturday after Boney Kapoor, her husband, found her motionless in a bathtub and the reports later confirmed that she passed away after drowning in the bathtub after the cardiac arrest rendered her unconscious.
Her eldest daughter, Janhvi, was gearing up for her Bollywood debut, Dhadak, in Mumbai and the actress was also eagerly awaiting her daughter's debut. She often said that Boney Kapoor and she were updated with the latest developments in Janhvi's career and that she supported her fully. Dhadak also marks the Bollywood debut of Ishaan Khattar, who is starring opposite Janhvi. The film is scheduled to release on 20th Jul 2018. Here are Sridevi's comments and statements about her daughter's debut:
Apprehensive at first- The actress was highly apprehensive about the career choice her daughter made initially (she wanted to do Student of the year 2) and said that she didn't favor it. " I don't think it's a bad industry at all, I am a creation of this world. But, as a parent, it would give me greater joy to see her married. But her happiness matters more, and if she does well as an actress, I will be a proud mother." She, later on, had to clarify that she didn't want her daughter to get married and settle but she just wanted her to be aware of the fact that being an actress is a taxing job and she will always support her.

The actress was referring to the days of shooting of Himmatwala where she had to dance on rocks in soaring temperatures that left her bruised and tired. She wanted Janhvi to be ready for anything that comes her way in Bollywood.
Supporting & Caring mother: The actress said in an interview that she and her husband were aware of all the developments in Janhvi's career and they had given consent to Karan Johar to launch her. Also, she was always by her daughter's side when Janhvi's name would be linked with other Bollywood star kids. She told Janhvi, "Welcome to my world. If you want to be a part of it, you have to be prepared for all this.''
Pearls of Wisdom: The actress always advised Janhvi about her Bollywood debut and the profession she chose as her career. "As a mother, like any mother, whether they are coming to this profession or any other, you just tell them to do the right thing. Like, do hard work, give your 100 percent, hard work always pays."
About the constant comparisons that Janhvi will face with her mother, she said that "We can't run away from that. She has to face the pressure. When she has decided to enter Bollywood, she has to go through all this. She's prepared for all that, and I am also preparing myself for it. Sometimes, it scares me. So many thoughts come and you feel why is she doing this? But then, if you feel that is her aim and happiness, as a mother, I will support her like my mom supported me. We weren't from a film background but it happened and she stood by me, fought for me and made sure I am happy. That's how I would also like to be with Janhvi."
Dream debut: It was Sridevi's dream to watch her daughter's debut in Bollywood and she was very much looking towards it. The actress spoke highly of Janhvi's work ethic and how she made her proud. Veteran actress Jaya Prada, who was a close friend of the actress said that it was her dream to watch her daughter's debut but everything is God's will. She never imagined she would go away so soon and she always had a smile on her face.
Sridevi's Mom co-star Sajal Ali, who played her daughter in the film also developed a close relationship with the actress and treated her as her mother. She also talked about the time Janhvi came on the sets of the film and two developed a close friendship. Sajal also shared a picture with Janhvi on social media captioning, "sisterfromanothermother".
