Cannes Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals which happens every year in the town of Cannes, France. It started in the year 1946 as an invitation festival and soon became one of the top film festivals of the world. New films of all the genres and documentaries are screened for the critics, audiences, and studios every year.
India also has a strong and historic connection with Cannes. Every year we see Indian celebs walking the red carpet and Indian films competing in different categories. Stars like Aishwarya Rai and Sonam Kapoor are regular faces at the Cannes and their looks and dresses often give major fashion goals. The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir: The Indo-French production stars Dhanush in the lead role and is based on Roman Puertolas novel The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir who got trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe. The film is directed by Ken Scott who has also directed Vince Vaughn starrer Delivery Man.
Manto: In this Nandita Das directorial, Nawazuddin Siddiqui stars as Indo-Pak author Saadat Hasan Manto and will focus on his life in the 40s and the time of Indian Independence.
Sir: Tilotama Shome stars in Rohena Gera's directorial debut Sir focuses on the relationship between a young man and his maid.
Asthi: This Dinkar Rao directorial is a short film in which a daughter struggles to immerse her mother's ashes in the Ganges.
Village Rockstars: This is an Assamese coming of age film which has been written and directed by Rima Das.
Bhayanakam: The Malayalam films focuses on a dilemma faced by a postman during the 2nd World War.
Sinjar: The film is based on the Sinjar Massacre of 2014 in which ISIS killed thouands of Yazidis.
Nagarkirtan: The film focuses on a same-sex couple.
