Is Kapil Sharma Losing His Mojo? The Premiere of Family Time With Kapil Sharma Suggests So
Often called the King of Comedy of Indian Television, Kapil Sharma has been at the center of all the wrong kinds of news since last year. After his much-publicised feud with co-star Sunil Grover, Kapil took some time off to treat his health which had been deteriorating for a while and also to treat his alcohol addiction which was found to be the cause of many problems. Though Kapil always had the backing of his fans, his then behavior called for some drastic changes from the comedian's side.
Kapil Sharma started his solo innings in Television with Comedy Nights with Kapil which was a roaring success as was his next project, The Kapil Sharma show. Both shows were consistently ranked high in the TRPs and were one of the reasons that brought families together at dinner time. There was a void left in TV after his sabbatical which no other comedy show seemed to fill and Kapil promised to come back with a bigger show. He is back that's for sure but it seems like his comedic powers are diminishing.
His new show Family Time with Kapil Sharma failed to impress the audiences much as is evident from the social media reactions. No one seemed to like it in particular and the comedy received a big thumbs down while the game-show format made people wish that Khul Ja Sim Sim was back. It does make one think, is Kapil losing his mojo or has he lost it altogether?
Losing his comedic assets: One of the major reasons for diminishing laughs from Kapil's shows is the loss of his major comedic assets Sunil Grover and Ali Asgar. Both comedians connected really well with the audiences and their characters were a rage amongst the audiences and were said to major attractions of Kapil's shows. Losing them along with few other comedians has been the biggest loss his comedic team has suffered.
Forced Laughs, Repetitive Jokes: There were complaints from his fans as well as general audiences that the jokes on his show were getting old and repetitive and hardly generated any laughs. Most of the jokes were also taken as offensive, racist and sexist which didn't help him either.
Missing good old Kapil charm: If you rewind the clock and see Kapil in his initial years in TV when he was a participant on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 3, you will be surprised to see how spontaneous and rib-tickling his comedy was. He was known to include current trends in his gigs and made fun of them without offending anyone.
Bad Health: The comedian hasn't been keeping well health wise and the numerous films and TV commitments he has to fulfill have taken their toll on him. More than once, he has fainted on the sets and had to be taken to the hospital for treatments. He should make a full recovery by taking some time off from his busy schedule as a fresh and energetic Kapil is someone the audiences would love to watch.
Celebrity tiffs: He has also been indulged in fights with his castmates, most notably, the Sunil Grover incident led to the departure of his original cast members as well as he was recently indulged in a twitter war with Grover. His fans don't want to see this side of him as he has also angered major Bollywood stars by canceling the shoot of his shows or making them wait for long hours before rescheduling or canceling.
