Ultimately left stranded by the girl and he finally learns a lesson and lets her go!
Bachna Ae Haseeno – Aimless wandering, random philandering and convincing beautiful girls that he loves them and then running away and moving on. Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu fall effectively in his 'dumped list' and till he finally meets Deepika and he falls in love! Growing up happens when she rejects him for what he is! *Heart Burn*
The heartbroken guy, after getting a taste of his own medicine, goes back to seek forgiveness of the two ladies he rejected! After he finally returns, like magic we find Deepika is deep in love with him! No points for guessing they live happily ever after!
Wake Up Sid – Bad student, an irresponsible son, doesn’t know what he wants from life. Differences with his father make him leave the house, and he moves in with a girl he just made friends with.
Being with her is a magical self-discovery, figures out a career, is more responsible and falls for the girl but doesn’t know it. He moves out, the girl’s heartbroken, she writes something for a magazine about her journey in a new city. The guy reads it and goes to find the girl and a happily ever after follows.
Rockstar – Loser college boy and a wannabe singer, proposes a girl because everyone thinks she is hot property and gets rejected in his face! And then wosh!! She decides to be friends with him to live all her cheap fantasies because she’s rich and all! Well, the guy’s really happy, falls in love with her even after knowing she’s engaged!
The girl gets married, the guy goes crazy and becomes a famous singer, meets the girl in another country and life gets complicated. The girl later separates from her husband falls ill, the guy takes care of her and the girl dies to leave the guy to live his miserable life! No points for guessing who the guy is again!
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani – An irresponsible son set out to live his life on his terms, wants to tour the world and be a travel journalist, goes on a spontaneous trip with friends, meets a nerdy old classmate who falls in love with him. But he has to leave because of dreams and all.
All meet several years hence at a friend's wedding, the nerdy doctor chick has magically transformed into a hot babe and he finally notices her and fall in love, gets jealous, learns a few life values and then sets out to leave again breaking her heart a second time.
Something (LOVE) stops him and he goes back to her and they live happily ever after!
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – Rockstar part 2, directed by Karan Johar. Lonely man-child in a foreign land, meets a girl, they have fun and the girl leaves to be with her ex-lover and marries him.
Guy goes crazy at being friend zoned, walks away, moves ahead, find a rebound, sings blockbuster songs and gets famous. Meets the girl again, she is dying of cancer, tries to convince her again she says no and dies! Left with himself permanently friend zoned!
The best part is that all these movies were box office hits! That says enough about how much we love him in this role!
