What Is With Salman Khan Copying Korean Films These Days?
Bollywood copying Hollywood films has been a trend. Bollywood copying from South Indian films too has been a regular thing. In fact, so much has been the effect that now we have official remakes. Bollywood, looking for ideas, has also ventured into world cinema. So our upcoming film Badla is a remake of a Spanish film. But one trend that Bollywood had caught on to, and that had gone little noticed, was the tendency to copy from South Korean films. In fact, there is a list of Bollywood films that have been heavily "inspired" from South Korean flicks.
But it looks like one person, in particular, is now patronising the trend. We are talking about none other than the Bhai of Bollywood, Salman Khan.
Why do we say so? Well, check out the list below and you'll know what we are talking about:
1. Bharat
Bhai fans are super excited for Salman's Eid 2019 release, Bharat. The teaser of the film has already gotten us excited. But did you know that the film is a remake of the Korean film, Ode To My Father?
Ode To My Father has been the third highest grossing film in the history of Korean cinema. It was about war-torn Korea during the Vietnam war and the Hungnam Evacuation. It has been suited according to Indian sensibilities.
2. Notebook
The film, that is being produced by Salman Khan, will be the launchpad for Zaheer Iqbal and Nutan's granddaughter, Pranutan Bahl. But did you know that this love story looks like an exact copy of the Korean drama, The Teacher's Diary? Have a look at its trailer:

3. The remake of Veteran
If you thought that was enough, then you are quite mistaken. Salman is all set to star in another Korean remake. The name of the film has not yet been decided, but it will be a remake of Veteran. Salman is good at picking hit films from South Korea, So this film is the 4th all-time highest-grossing film in South Korean cinema history. It also won the Casa Asia Award at the Sitges Film Festival. “Several studios were looking to bring the critically-acclaimed film to Hindi cinema but Atul Agnihotri and the CEO of his banner, Nikhil Namit, bagged the rights from the Korean production house, CJ Entertainment", Bombay Times reported.
Salman will reportedly be playing the cop and they are thinking of casting a young actor for the part of the millionaire.
