In 2014, a film called Heropanti introduced us to 2 new actors, Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. Both the actors would later go on to establish themselves as talents to look out for. Heropanti was a big hit which earned over 50 Crores at the box office on a 25 Crores budget. Tiger was already a hit amongst the youth thanks to his athleticism and fitness and Heropanti cemented his status as a popular star amongst the audiences.
Tiger's next film Baaghi was again a big hit at the box office and earned over 76 Crores at the box office. Tiger received unanimous praise for the action scenes, his work ethic and chiseled body and became a brand in himself. His next 2 outings A Flying Jatt and Munna Michael were huge flops and performed underwhelmingly at the box-office. Baaghi 2 marks his return to the big-screen and he will be hoping it turns out to be a hit. Here's why it can be a make or break film for his career:
First hit after two flops: His last 2 films have flopped miserably at the box-office. Even when both the films boasted of stars like Jacqueline Fernandez and Nawazuddin Siddiqui apart from Tiger himself, they failed to perform and as Baaghi 2 is a sequel to a hit film, there are hopes that it may strike a chord with the audiences. Franchise films tend to do well but we have seen a lot of sequels which have flopped too.
Pairing with Disha Patani: Tiger is paired opposite his girlfriend Disha Patani and both the actors have a huge fan following in the social media. Both are also immensely popular amongst their fans and the film will test how successful this real-life pairing is at the box-office.
Competition: Tiger's competitors have delivered a number of hits and the pressure is mounting on the young actor to deliver with every film. It's not going to go away and if Baaghi 2 succeeds, he will finally be able to shut down his detractors and critics.
Remake/Rip Offs: Baaghi 2 is a remake of the 2016 mystery Telegu film Kshanam while Baaghi was a rip off of hit Indonesian film Raid: Redemption. These are also testing times for remakes as these days they don't necessarily guarantee a successful film and audiences recognize easily whether a film has been ripped off or not.
Time for a change: After Baaghi 2, Tiger may be thinking that he should dabble in other genres as well. He has mostly stayed in the action-zone and with 2 hits and 2 flops he has seen mixed results. It might be the time when he should explore uncharted territories as an actor.
