Have you read the latest book on the evergreen Rekha?

Here’s Why There’s More To Rekha – The Untold Story Than Just Amitabh Bachchan

While it unfolds the drama surrounding her love life and the infamous affair with superstar Amitabh Bachchan, the book has more to it which can leave many readers sympathizing with the actress.

Yes, there are explosive chapters and accounts of their relationship, her equation with Jaya Bachchan, of how she still unabashedly loves Amitabh Bachchan. “A rose is a rose is a rose..” will get stuck in your head and is perhaps the best line to describe the megastar of the century, but, Rekha – The Untold To Story has more to it, than just the romantic revelations.

The author unveils the past of Rekha, or should we say Bhanurekha Ganesha, her parents, her struggle, molestation by industry people, racist jokes from the biggest of stars and what not!

The chapters which are written quite dramatically, including the ones on her husband and his suicide, paint a portrait of Rekha which many of us have never imagined. The book reads more like a script as if you’re watching a movie on Rekha, just that all the characters are real. From the description of how choked she felt during the worst times, to tears rolling down her eyes with nerving accounts of her personal life (her relationship with her secretary Farzana, to being bisexual) this book is a must read.

What I liked about the book is the fact that it drew my attention to the other side of Rekha, and I wanted to know more about the real Rekha than her affairs. Her rise to stardom and evolution is a good insight for all cinema lovers who like tracing back journeys.

Read it for Bhanurekha, not the Rekha who fell for a rose.
