From our lifestyle to fashion choices, for a true Bollywood fan films influence an immense variety of important aspects of our life. But the list, without fail, starts with the romance or relationship. With an uncountable number of love stories that Bollywood has come up with over the years and the number of iconic on-screen couples and relationships it has presented us with, it is weird that the expert on relationships, Bollywood, is so far removed from what issues plague the world of real-life relationships.

Thus in the rose-tinted world of Bollywood’s idea of romance, these are some of the problems that couples in Bollywood never face. Needless to say, in real life, these are some of the most common problems that every couple faces in today’s world.

Sexual Incompatibility

This is the biggest example of Bollywood still skimming on some of the most valid problems in relationships. Sexual incompatibility is as real as daylight and there is no dearth of relationships that has crumbled owing to this problem. But in the realms of Bollywood, this issue ceases to exist altogether. Either there is no sex involved and even if it is there, it is always good. And no, don’t you go reminding me of Shubh Mangal Savadhaan, that was an entirely different problem altogether!

High ISD Rates and Internet Issues

This is especially true for long-distance relationships. As it is, long distance relationships are fairly underexplored in Bollywood so the problems related to it never is explored in Bollywood. The phenomenon is strange because these days a large chunk of couples maintain a long distance relationship and boy the struggle is real. Any couple who has ever been in a long distance relationship can tell you that phone calls, especially ISD rates and slow internet are the biggest deterrent to relationships. Romance soon fades away when just the mere act of communicating burns a major hole in your pocket.

Never Running Short On Date Ideas

This is a personal bone of contention! Firstly can we all agree that perfect date ideas are not that easy to come up with? Even if we do come up with one,  our ambitions and creativity rarely is in tandem with our affordability and even if we cross that hurdle IT IS NOT EASY to execute them perfectly. But in Bollywood it doesn’t matter if you want to shower rose petals from a helicopter or light a thousand candle at a public park to propose to your lady love, everything goes on without a hitch. Just how!

Phone Phenomena

This one is a typical millennial issue but nobody can claim that it is not rampant. From partner continuously engaged with his/her phone to differences on sharing or not sharing passwords, this might sound silly, but the phone has been a major issue of discontent in many couples given the importance we attach to it in our daily lives. However, even the biggest Bollywood fan cannot claim to remember even few instances where the same happened in a film!

Being On The Same Page

To be honest, we won’t say that Bollywood has never come up with this issue, especially in ‘coming of age’ films, but we still think as an aspect of relationship this is fairly unchartered territories for Bollywood. Yes, we have films on commitment phobia and other such issues, but in the end, the partners always find a common ground which mostly in favor ‘janam janam ka saath hai humara tumhara’.
