Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees Is Going The Dilwale Way, And That’s Not A Good News!

Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees Is Going The Dilwale Way, And That’s Not A Good News!

The complete impression we still take out of Dilwale V Bajirao Mastani’s last year’s clash is how the SRK starrer fell flat on its face despite having taken a wonderful opening with a director who never fails. The film did collect a respectable total at the domestic box office and yet people perceive it to be a failure. It is in fact a failure when you know the potential of a Shah Rukh Khan starrer wrapped in the commercial package of a Rohit Shetty film.

Anyway, while a lot of theories crept into suggest reasons for the film losing to Bajirao, the biggest and most believable of them all was the aftermaths of Shah Rukh’s intolerance remark that made our AAM JANTA so furious that a major section of the audience boycotted the film. It was the boycott that hampered Dilwale’s prospects and every other actor who got involved in this intolerance mess was found retracting his/her comments. While Aamir had to repeatedly come on TV shows to make his stand clear, others were found singing the nationalistic anthems. In any which way, Shah Rukh had to suffer.

The aftermaths could also have carried on for a few more months since an ambitious project of his like Fan failed disastrously at the box office (we don’t have to look for a better word, it indeed failed.) He instantly pushed Raees to next year to avert clash with Sultan and made attempts to fix his losing ground at the box office. As harsh as it may sound, the ghost of intolerance is back to haunt him in the worst way possible.

The demands of banning all Pakistani imports into Bollywood got louder when eighteen of our soldiers were recently killed in the cowardly attack in Uri. This included Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan who happens to be the female lead in SRK’s Raees. The film already has faced a lot of troubles in the following ways:

It unfortunately already saw some protests while it was being shot in Gujrat.

Film’s director Rahul Dholakia has directed Parzania that got banned in Gujrat.

Film has had to shift its release date to avert with Salman Khan’s Sultan.

It now clashes with anther biggie- Hrithik Rooshan’s Kaabil.

And now, it is visibly clear that it will face a lot of trouble once it releases next year.

If the common sentiments of Indian audiences are looked into, they are very fragile and also easily movable. If through any means of provocation the release of Raees sees protests, not only will the film face a business driven trouble, a major section may boycott it again owing to a lot reasons explained above.

Shah Rukh hasn’t forgotten how one misconstrued statement of him has had to make him pay heavily with two failures and another costly affair especially the one he produces is something he can’t afford. While it’s a little too early to predict what’s going to happen, we just thought of giving everyone a heads up that Raees is pretty much on the roads of Dilwale.

Everything said and done, this will be the last thing that Shah Rukh would want!
