5 Films Where The Co-Stars Were On Opposite Ends Of The Acting Scale

There are good actors and bad actors in Bollywood and that is how it has been ever since Bollywood came into being. Every decade has seen at least one of two bad actors flourishing in Bollywood for reasons unknown and somehow we have all come to accept it.

The problem, however, arises when actors with limited acting abilities are paired opposite people who deliver extraordinary performances in the same films. These are a few films where one actor was delivering a career-defining performance while another was struggling very hard match up, unfortunately to no avail.

It is widely considered one of Ranbir Kapoor ’s best performances. His portrayal of mercurial Jordan was powerful enough to move even the coldest of the hearts. And the in the same film there was Nargis Fakhri who literally looked like a bowl of ice-cream that has been just taken out of the refrigerator. She delivered a performance that so dismal that it was almost tragic to see such a miscast in that masterpiece of a film.

Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti was a film where the entire star cast which included names like Manoj Bajpayee, Ajay Devgn , Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor who were nailing it and how with even Arjun Rampal doing justice to his role with an unprecedented finesse, and then there was Katrina Kaif . That much-hyped Hindi speech is stuff that acting nightmares are made of.

Perhaps one of the best films of 2016, it had a dream star cast. No points for  guessing that Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajat Kapoor were phenomenal and even Fawad Khan and of course Alia Bhatt were giving a brilliantly nuanced performance. Amidst all these actors Sidhharth Malhotra with his limited acting skills was totally out of depths.

For a casting director, having Nawazuddin Siddique is any films would probably be a challenge given most actor would pale in his comparison. This is exactly what happened in Kick. As a volatile and psychotic businessman Shivgajra with his trademark laugh, Nawaz was a treat to watch. Salman Khan could barely hide his limited acting skills behind his persona, which he usually does, in front of an actor of Nawaz’s caliber

    Padmaavat

So this is in no way to contest the fact that Shahid Kapoor is a phenomenal actor which is evident from his performances in films such as Kaminey and Haider. But, coming to Padmaavat, Ranveer not only entirely stole the limelight with his stellar performance, but Shahid’s portrayal of Rawal Ratan Singh was just out of tune.
