We all love the glitz and glamour of Bollywood. But one aspect we tend to forget is the amount of sweat and hard work that is translated on the screens as beautiful frames. Bollywood no new to challenges, but some films took the definition of challenge a notch higher. These are 7 Bollywood films that were shot in some of the most dangerous location in the world.

Kabul Express

If making a film on two Indian journalists in the land of Afghanisthan wasn’t difficult enough, the hostile political scenario of the country made sure that the crew had to face many adverse situations. Director Kabir Khan , in many interviews have revealed that while shooting inKandahar for the John Abraham and Arshad Warsi starrer they got phone calls and threats from local terrorist outfits and they literally had to put their life on stake to complete the shoot of the movie.

LOC Kargil

Shooting a J.P. Dutta war magnum opus was surely not an easy task anyway. But the high altitude and the extreme temperature was too much to deal with. In fact two of the crew members even lost their lives due to the unfortunate weather. Plus shooting on one of world’s most politically sensitive international border further added to the woes of the crew.

Jab We Met

Remember the beautiful frozen road in the ‘Yeh Ishq Haye’ from the movie Jab We Met? No matter how happy and chirpy the song sounds, it was one difficult sequence to shoot for the cast and crew of the film. The sequence was shot in the Rohtang Pass which is situated at an altitude of 3978metres above the sea level and is known to have extreme temperature and grievous road accidents that occurs due to vehicles slipping on road laced with ice. Next time you see Shahid Kapoor driving on the road with a smile on his face just remember this trivia.

Lucky-No Time For Love

Another film that was shot in unbelievably dangerous low temperature was the Salman Khan and Sneha Ullal starrer Lucky-No Time For Love. Shot entirely in Russia which is known for extreme cold weather, the cast and crew shot in some of the most remote and snow covered areas of the country.

Paan Singh Tomar

The movie deserves appreciation for a raw and real portrayal of athlete turned dacoit Paan Singh Tomar. To make sure that the movieretain its raw appeal the movie was actually shot in the ravines of Chambal. Synonymous with a number of legendary and dangerous dacoits, Chambal hardly makes for a favourable location to shoot a movie. Plus the lack of amenities in the area also made for a difficult time

The Hero -Love Story Of A Spy

Though the movie was not a big hit, but to give credit where its due, the movie shot in one of the most challenging location in the world. The scenes close to the climax shows Sphinx Observatory which located in Jungfraojoch, Switzerland. Apart from the really low temperature and high altitude it is one an extremely difficult location to access. But the Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta starrer braved all the adversities to make it happen.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Ladakh has become one of the most loved location to shoot Bollywood movies over the years. From 3 Idiots to Jab Tak Hai Jaan all have showed the area in all its glory, but Bhaag Milkha Bhaag shot one of the most challenging sequences in Ladakh. Farhan’s training sequence in the film was shot in Nubra Valley which stands at the height of 10,000 feet. If the temperature and lack of oxygen didn’t make normal sequences difficult, the grueling physical work out in the sequence  could have easily proven fatal for the star.
