In-A-Minute With Pawni Pandey - 'Bewafa Beauty' Singer Talks About The Trend Of Reprising Old Songs In Bollywood

Singing since she was just three, and winning hearts since her stint in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs days, Pawni Pandey has won the nation over with her with her powerful singing. Living the Bollywood dream especially after the overwhelming success of 'Laila Main Laila' her chartbuster song from Raees , Pawani has been setting new milestones in her career. The latest feather in her cap is 'Bewafaa Beauty' that stars Urmila Matondkar, from the Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulkhari starrer Blackmail that releases this Friday.

In an exclusive chat with Desimartini, Pawni talks about Bollywood celebs she wants to collaborate with, her favorite songs and the trend of reprising old songs in Bollywood, in In-A-Minute.

You recent song Bewafa Beauty released starring Urmila Matondkar, which is one song from her films that you wish you had sung and why?

Tanha Tanha from Rangeela as I'm a huge A.R Rahman fan & I love the way Urmila has performed in that song.

Similarly, who is one Bollywood actress you really want to sing for and why?

Rekha ji as she's the all-time Diva and when I saw her in the song Kaisi Paheli, I was blown away.

Like your popular song Laila Main Laila from Raees, Bollywood is rampantly revisiting old chartbusters, what is your opinion of the trend and what is one old song that you really love and want to sing for a movie?

I feel that if one can do justice to the legendary iconic songs then why not.... They are loved by all. There are many songs, but I'd love to sing any of the R.D Burman da's songs.

Which is that one old song that you think that should never be remade in Bollywood and is best in its original version?

Lag ja gale because it's a timeless charming iconic song and I feel that it's magic cannot be recreated anytime.

Who is one singer in the industry that you wish to collaborate with and why?

Arijit Singh . No reasons required for that, he's that awesome.

What is one song that you have really fond memories of and what is it?

Surmayi Ankhiyon mein from Sadma, my father used to sing it to me at night when I was a kid.

Which song that you have sung remains your absolute favorite?

Laila Main Laila because it has changed my life and I have extremely fond memories associated to this song.
