Sajid Nadiadwala Becomes The Undisputed King Of Sequels With Baaghi 2's Super Success

Baaghi 2 has emerged as a major success at the Box Office, what with 25.10 crore coming on the very first day of release. This has pretty much set the stage for the film to further grow from here and while a Hit tag is definitely on the cards, what has to be seen is how fast is its journey towards the 100 Crore Club.

With this, the film's producer Sajid Nadiadwala now has yet another franchise in hand as Baaghi was a superhit and now the second in the series would go past the former's lifetime [77 crore] in four days flat.

That has only increased the stocks further for the producer's filmmaking house Nadiadwala Grandson as it adds on to the list of successful sequels/franchises that it already boasts of.

"That's right, with Baaghi 2 emerging as a solid success and Baaghi 3 announced already, Sajid is the undisputed King of Sequels," says a trade veteran.

This can well be gauged from the fact that he has Housefull and Judwaa as the established franchises while Kick is being added to the repertoire already.

"Housefull stands right up there amongst other major comedy franchises like Golmaal when it comes to the commercial appeal," a close associate adds, "Housefull, Housefull 2 and Housefull 3 were all good commercial successes. Now Housefull 4 is going to the next level and it is being said that a budget of 200 crore has been allocated to it. That shows the kind of confidence that Sajid has in the franchise."

On the other hand, Judwaa 2 released a couple of decades after Judwaa and in a remake/re-dux avatar, it went on to attain a Superhit status. As for Kick 2, it reunites Salman Khan with Sajid Nadiadwala who is also the director of the film. While Kick made an entry into the 200 Crore Club, a bigger milestone of 400 Crore is being aimed for the sequel which is set for Christmas 2019 release.

"Meanwhile there is now added craze around Baaghi 3 as well since that would bring back the original team of Baaghi 2," our insider adds, "The franchise promises to be an action entertainer and so far it has been delivering as per that as well. What has to be seen is how much bigger does Baaghi 3 eventually turn out to be since Baaghi 2 has already set new benchmarks for the production house and the actor."

With four solid franchises under his belt, Sajid Nadiadwala has already taken a lead when compared to other major producers like Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar who have franchises of their own too.

"Aditya Chopra is the man behind one of the biggest franchises of Bollywood, Dhoom . He is also the architect of Tiger series [Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai]. On the other hand Karan Johar has seen good success with Dulhania franchise [ Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania , Badrinath Ki Dulhania] and is now gearing up for Student of the Year 2 (which incidentally stars Tiger Shroff again). The maximum count of franchises though is with Sajid," an observer comments.

Will there be more in the offering soon enough from him? Well, it won't be surprising if his action entertainers like Jeet and Dishoom find sequels/franchises going for them as well. Now that would be something!
