Why Tiger Shroff Became a Sensation While Vidyut Jamwal Fizzled Out

With Baaghi 2 breaking every possible record at the box-office Tiger Shroff has emerged as the ultimate action hero. But amidst all the craze going on for Tiger, there arises a small question about another Bollywood celebrity who trod the very same path but did not even receive one-tenth of the success that Tiger is enjoying.

We are talking about none other than Vidyut Jamwal. Much like Tiger, his dashing looks, rippling muscles and kickass kicks became the talk of the town when he showcased some serious acumen for action in his debut film Force. He also went on to do high octane action films such as Commando , but despite all the karate ‘karamaat’ he soon fizzled out and last time we saw in a laughable film named Badshaho where played a turtleneck wearing cop.

So what went wrong? Even after being in the same territory and having comparable skills why did Vidyut Jamwal fizzle out and Tiger Shroff became the undisputed champion? Here is what we think

Not to stir up the nepotism debate again or taking away from Tiger Shroff’s credit, but nobody can disagree that being Jackie Shroff ’s son comes with its own advantage. When Tiger debuted with Heropanti , there was an instant buzz among people who wanted to see Jackie Shroff’s son in action. However, when Vidyut Jamwal had a debut in Force, people hardly knew about him. Additionally, it will not be unfair to say that big banners would be more accessible to a star kid than a complete outsider.

Talking about debuts, Tiger chose a more debut friendly script than Vidyut. Although his performance and flair for action was much appreciated, at the end of the day he was playing a antagonist who was pitted against John Abraham in all his heroic and muscular glory. No matter how things change in Bollywood, heroes will always have better chance of winning audience approval than the quintessential villain.

If anybody ever asks what does Tiger Shroff has and Vidyut Jamwal doesn’t, the most obvious answer would probably be killer dance moves. In terms of an action hero they can match up to each other but when it comes to shaking a leg there are very few in Bollywood who can even come close to him, and make no mistake, being a phenomenal dancer is still a prized skill to have when it comes to being a hero in Bollywood.

Yet another advantage that Tiger Shroff has over Vidyut Jamwal is the fact that he has tried to diversify his talents. Apart from being a bonafide action star and a talented dancer, he has always picked up roles that has a strong romantic angle as well, something than Vidyut Jamwal rarely tried to explore. While Bollywood audiences still laps up heroes engaging in high octane action sequences, nothing rolls in Bollywood without a little bit of romance thrown into the mix.

A combination of all these factors have led to Tiger Shroff garnering a mass appeal that Vidyut Jamwal never could. Tiger has always gone for scripts which let him explore all his skills which include action and dance packaged with a generous dose of romance while Vidyut has chosen scripts which focused entirely on showcasing his action prowess which made for rather insipid content that had little hope at the box office and thus he never enjoyed the mass appeal that Tiger does.
