Did You Know Lara Dutta Turned Down Films With Keanu Reeves And Jackie Chan?

Lara Dutta may have refocused her career on doing smaller roles in Bollywood films, but the former Miss Universe has turned down many big offers from Hollywood after she won the international beauty pageant. Post her marriage to Tennis player Mahesh Bhupati in 2011 the actress has maintained a fair distance from big roles and was last seen in Welcome To New York in 2018.

Lara made her debut in Bollywood in 2003 with Andaaz and even bagged the trophy for the best debut at the Filmfare Awards, but did you know that she could have made her debut in an international hit like The Matrix Reloaded the same year?

Yes! In an interview with Bollywood Hungama in 2010, Lara confirmed that she was offered to be a part of the Matrix during her Miss Universe days. While it was rumoured that she had issues with the script, she clarified that it wasn’t the case. She refused to embark on the offer as her mother was really ill and all she wanted was to get back home to be with her.

But this wasn’t the only time Lara let go of a big opportunity. She was also offered a role in Jackie Chan’s ‘The Myth’ which released in 2005. The actress had signed on for the film but later backed out because she had reservations about the nude scenes in the movie. Mallika Sherawat was then given the part.

She might have had her reasons for backing out but we would have loved it if she starred in them.
