De De Pyaar De Song Vaddi Sharaban: Ajay Devgn And Rakul Preet Singh Bring Us Another Shaadi Wala Gaana
When someone tells you that there is a new Bollywood shaadi number, what comes to your mind? To us, it means that there would be a guy, all suited up, and a girl, baring her back and waist in a sexy saree. There would be a lot of daaru flowing throughout the song (some even splashed at the girl’s already focused voluptuous body), Punjabi phrases here and there and of course, some nayan matakka. In all probability, this would be the remix of some Punjabi gaana and would invariably have a rap in between. De De Pyaar De's first song Vaddi Punjaban is everything described above, sans the rap!
This song starts with a pretty (objectifying) shot of the Rakul Preet Singh’s bareback with a bottle of daaru resting on her waist.
After all, she is the young girl whose ‘jawaani’ this 50-year-old character played by Ajay Devgn is after! So you would invariably stumble upon weird camera angles focusing on Rakul’s back and waist and also those abs all the ladies think they will possess in their best friend’s wedding but fall short of after thinking about the menu.
Then there is Ajay Devgn, doing what he does in all romantic songs- looking at the lady and smiling in a half appreciative manner!
Rest, there is Rakul getting drenched in daaru!
Drinking loads of daaru!
Nayan Matakka wale shots
Some mild touchy-feely shots.
And a lot of Punjabi lyrics. For heaven’s sake, the song is vaddi sharaban (which translates to super alcoholic)
The song is bound to be a hit because like the music directors, we too have become complacent and have started appreciating stale daaru wale gaane. Look at the success of Chhote Chhote peg or Dil Chori Sadda Ho Gaya and you'll know what we are saying.
