Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De Trailer Puts A Hilarious Twist On Coming Of ‘Age’ Love Stories

When Luv Ranjan teamed up with Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh, we barely had any idea about what to expect. The trailer of De De Pyaar De proves that it is indeed one fun collaboration. Directed by Akiv Ali the film has an interesting star cast to boast off.

Releasing on 17^th May the story will take a hard look at modern relationships with a funny twist. Here is what we thought about the trailer.

Funny Coming Of ‘Age’ Story

The story is about a 50-year-old man who falls in love with a 26-year-old girl. The unique situation, assumptions, and confusion that follows forms the crux of the story. While we are used to coming of age story, not a lot of films have delved into relationships with big age gaps and it is an interesting concept for sure.

Wonderfully Self Aware

The movie is incredibly self-aware and that is probably going to be its USP. From friends giving Ajay a reality check about the relationship to a man in his 50s realizing his youth through this chirpy young woman in his life or the whole uncle debate, it captures the nuances of such relationships really well.

Interesting Star Cast

The film has managed to put together quite an interesting star cast. Apart from the lead cast that includes Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh, the film also features Javed Jaffery, Jimmy Shergill and Alok Nath. Javed and Jimmy are two people you can totally rely on to make comedies work and we are expecting nothing short of fireworks from these two at least.

A Modern Look At Relationships

Later in the trailer, we are also introduced to Ajay’s family which includes his ex-wife played by Tabu, his two kids who are almost the same age of his girlfriend and his sassy parents. Although replete with cringe-worthy awkward moments it actually manages to acknowledge and reflect how modern relationships and family dynamics play out.

Major Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji Feels

Come to think of it, the story of the film is quite akin to Ajay Devgn’s story track in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji. Crazy ex-wife, crush on a girl much younger than her and the awkward moments arising from that are some of the common features of both the film.
