Kabir Singh Tujhe Kitna Song: The Generic Love Ballad Does Not Measure Upto The Magic Of Bekhayali

Here is a personal declaration: ever since the Bekhayaali song from Kabir Singh had dropped, it has been the only song on my playlist and I have played for more number of times than I can possibly count. Thus, the expectations from the second song from the film were unrealistically high. The new song, sung by Arijit Singh, somehow, fails to measure up to that.

The song has been almost entirely picturized on Shahid Kapoor and probably deals with the phase just before he slips into alcoholism and substance abuse owing to a tumultuous love story with Kiara Advani’s character.

However, the issue with the song is that it is almost indistinguishable from scores of sad love ballads. From the tune of the song to the lyrics, everything seems extremely generic and forgettable. Despite always dependable vocals of Arijit Singh, it lacks any magic and is pretty forgettable.

But, whether it is the magic of Bekhayali or the generic Tujhe Kitna, it is surely one film we are all excited for. Even in this song, it is evident that Shahid Kapoor’s intense act in the film is going to leave a long-lasting impact on the audience and it just might be another performance of Shahid that would be in the same league as his performances in films like Kaminey or Udta Punjab.

A remake of the blockbuster Telugu film Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani is being directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy who directed the original film and will hit the theatres on 21^st June.
