Kesari’s ‘Sanu Kehndi’ Is A Catchy Number With The Right Dose Of Punjabiness

The first song from the Akhay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari is out. The song is called ‘Sanu Kehndi’ and has been sung by Romi and Brijesh Sandilya and has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi with lyrics from Kumaar.

The film Kesari is based on the real story of Battle of Saragarhi and is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production in association with Cape of Good Film. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film will hit the theatres on 21^st March on the occasion of Holi. Here is what we thought about the song.

Catchy Appeal

The song has a very authentic Punjabi tune to it and is thus pretty catchy. The dhols, that have been played by Hanif Aslam along with the generous use of live percussion renders the tune a richness that is the hallmark of a good folk-based number. Its peppy without being loud and can totally be a staple on the dance floors for people to get into the groove.

Finally, Not A Remake

Things have indeed reached a point when any original track, more like, anything that is not a remake of a popular song, gets us going. After serving us too many remakes last year, we are finally glad that Tanishk Bagchi has come up with an original composition and we really want to thank him for that.

Interesting Choreography

Akshay Kumar and Punjabi beats are always a combination we look forward to. He has a knack for coming up with really fun and interesting steps that are a total treat. In this songs also he is doing something with his elbows and hands which look pretty funny and interesting. Given, everyone in the song is shown to be a soldier, we are glad they did not go for really elaborate and perfect choreography.

All About The Bonding

The video of the song is actually pretty cute. From the trailer it is apparent that film is going to be pretty high on intensity and action, thus the song provides an opportunity to understand the bond between these 21 Sikh soldiers as they have a fun time, before things get serious and bloody.

Major ‘Havan Karenge’ Feels

A group of soldiers suddenly breaking into a song at night about what irks them and dancing their hearts out with awkward and funny looking steps. We can’t be the only one who remembered ‘Havan Karenge’ from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag after seeing this song. From the setting to the vibe, everything about this song feels like a major throwback to ‘Havan Karenge’.
