Here Is Why We Are NOT Super Stoked About Ranveer Singh Replacing Shah Rukh In Don 3

We can say it again and again, but even then we won’t be tired of marveling at the year Ranveer has had. As if Padmaavat, Simmba and Gully Boy were not enough, his upcoming films include 83 and Takht which are almost sure to be box-office success. There is  no doubt that Ranveer is at the pinnacle of his stardom and he totally deserved it.

Having said that, we were hardly stoked when we hear that Ranveer might replace Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3 and here are our reasons.

It Is Signature Shah Rukh Khan

Even the biggest critics of Shah Rukh will have a hard time not loving Shah Rukh in the role. The anti-hero element of the role is reminiscent of Shah Rukh Khan is films such as Baazigar and Darr which really made him who he is today. We love Shah Rukh as the king of romance, but it is one role where we get to explore his darker side with his signature charm and flamboyance and we do not want to give up on it.

The Legacy Of The Role

Remember how our fathers reacted when Farhan first announced the remake of Don? It was almost impossible to get rid of the mental image of Amitabh Bachchan in the same role that he immortalized. Thankfully, Shah Rukh did total justice to the role and now we are not ready for another shuffle.

Little Aging Would Be Needed

The whole appeal of a franchise is the familiarity of the characters engaging in new adventures. Yes, a little shuffling here and there adds to the fun, but since Don 3 might be the last film of the franchise, it would be jerky for the viewers to give up on Shah Rukh suddenly and accept Ranveer in the role.
