Almost all Shah Rukh fans would have a favorite interview, but recently an old interview of Shah Rukh has taken the internet by storm. The video is from the late 90s where he can be seen interviewed by Farida Jalal. Among other question, Farida asked him about his take on political situations in the country. Shah Rukh, whose father was one of the youngest freedom fighters of the country has always been proud of his lineage and in the video we see him talking about the same. He can be seen saying, “My family, especially my father, we all were very closely connected with the country's politics because my father himself was the youngest freedom fighter of this country and was related to people like Gen. Shshnawaz who have fought for the freedom of this country. He would always tell me Shahrukh don't take your freedom for granted. We have given it to you so always maintain this freedom.”

He talks about his idea of freedom. He said, “I remember when we were kids we had to write an essay, 'My Country, India' I think that should be changed. It has to be that the country is India and we are the citizens of this country. We don't own it. Ownership does not mean that this is our India.”

Clarifying his thoughts, Shah Rukh added, “I am not directly affiliated to politics or to any kind of party or actively involved in it but whenever I read it does bring this little sadness that it is away from what my father told me ' keep this country free the way I gave it to you.'”
